Default WA-style travel to any world
Apparently Twallan's new Traveler mod allows WA-style travel to any world. That's amazing!

It's in testing here: http://www.the-isz.com/nraas/index....ed-2011-sep-06/

He warns that the mod is experimental, and could damage your save-game. He also asks that you report your findings to him.

If I understood this correctly, this is going to be epic! Can you imagine a save game with all of your favorite towns together?

That is incredible. Thanks for showing us.

I'm already getting ideas of having only one savegame now with all towns linkable like TS2. (If custom hoods come into the fold, which hasn't happened in my game)
Hmmm, employment will only be available in the main town if I do this, but....still, this is GOOD.

Can't find stuff in build and buy mode? http://www.nexusmods.com/thesims3/mods/1/?

If this is successful, then EA will probably implement it and mess it up. This is epic for Twallan. I will go read up on it.

This is beyond cool, although I can't imagine how chunky a save file that connects several worlds together would be. Has anyone from here tested it out yet? I wonder how it works. I would love to try it out but I can't risk the damage if something happens

Any damage would be isolated to whatever save-file you are playing, none of my style mods can permanently damage the game itself.

Just use the "Save As" to create a testing game, and use that one (though I would suggest backing up your saves, just in case you inadvertently overwrite one).

This is the very reason I haven't been a big fan of this. If it does add huge chunks to the already chunky save file, then I would not recommend using this for a legacy. Unless of course you've got a ton of ram you're just dying to use up and burn.

The base town-file will indeed expand to accommodate more mini-sims (the in-game object that holds portraits and Relationship Panel information for foreign sims).

More foreign sims, more mini-sim data. Not much can be done about that.

As to how much of an impact that will have on game memory usage, I have no idea at the moment.

Twallan, you are a beautiful genius! With everything you do to make what has gone wrong with the Sims go right I have to say if you ever make a simulation game -- I would buy it!

Wow This really opens up a whole world of possibilities (excuse the expression) :D

Gameplay-wise, Bridgeport and Hidden Springs would both make better travel destinations than they do base worlds, for instance

My game has not been particularly stable lately so I am not sure I'd make a good tester, but I am definitely going to contemplate it, heh

Do we have to choose between it being French, Chinese, or Egyptian in order for the game to put some locals in it? Or can it populate with normal "Simlish" sims?

I'm not sure what happens. Will have to add that to my investigate list.

Though I suspect it will populate non-vacation destinations using the base-town approach.
