Default Help with Default Road Replacement
I would like to learn how to make a default road replacement that I can place in my Mods folder. I am not referring to editing roads in CAW, but an override for existing roads. I really don't like the default roads with the yellow centre line as I prefer to play more rural worlds and they just look out of place.

Please, if anyone would kindly direct me to some relevant tutorials or just explain to me how to get started I would be forever grateful. I have searched for help but everything I find is related to CAW. Thank you.

There is a road replacement here: http://www.modthesims.info/d/356780

Download this and look at it to see what they have done. I believe all one needs to do is alter the dds images with Gimp or Photoshop or similar program.

Thanks. I'll do that.

I've been reading about how to make default replacements in general and from what I gather, you go about it like this:

Open up FullBuild0.package in S3PE and export the 5 .dds road files.
Edit in graphics program, save.
Open S3PE and import those files into a new package.
Place in Mods>Overrides folder.

When the .dds files are first exported, do they have the same GUID, and they override the defaults because of they have priority according to Resource.cfg? Am I on the right track here?

Yes, as long as you keep the long weird file name on the .dds images when you export them; the correct ID numbers are in the name and importing back into a new package gives the same ID as the original.
