Maybe it would be Italy to start with - I believe that modern architecture started with the Renaissance and Baroque and all of it in Italy. I think that the Italian culture is very strong and worth seeing and experiencing.

San Francisco for the Victorian architecture. No such reason of history, but just because I love Victorian houses

I'd love to travel America & Canada and visit as many states and historic buildings and places as possible. I'd then quite like to travel Australia and New Zealand and visit as many of their historic buildings as possible too. I'd also like to cross the Channel again and visit my favourite Chateau in France, which just so happens to be owned by some friends of my parents. I'd also love to visit as many historic country houses as possible back home in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales too. I'm sure there's many other places I'd like to visit too but I can't remember them at the moment...

Berlin?! I wanna go to Berlin too. I was going to go with some friends, but that plan fell apart. If I could speak German, i'd love to go to East Berlin and visit all the historic buildings it has to offer. Having studied it for history, I know there's some tremendous architcure to be found there, both historical and modern. There's just so much beautiful architecture out there, how on earth is one supposed to see it all?

You could say I've been on an architectural vacation over the past 2 weeks, since I've visited many historic (and a few modern) buildings in and around Lisbon, Portugal. It's amazing, we couldn't fit in everything, so well be making a return another year!!

I've visited
Palace of Pena, Sintra
Mafra
Parque des Naçoes
Castell de São Jorge
And Belém!

ooh! ooh! I've just found some more places I'd love to go to see the architecture:
Irkutsk, Siberia, Russia. It is famed for having a collection of some of the best preserved Russian 'Wooden' architecture. It has some really good looking Dachas; such as The House of Europe:

Another place has to be Virginia City, NV
and also Nevada City, MT.

I was in Berlin for a week in August and it was great! The museums that we have visited are so full of art, history and architecture, that I felt really excited! In the center of the city there are a lot of buildings that have holes from bullets like the cathedral and the museums. The Neues Museum was very interesting, the building itself is looked upon as a ruin, because it was largely destroyd in World War II. I also visited Sanssouci palace and the Zwinger in Dresden - they are both magnificent examples of rococo architecture and I saw a lot of buldings in Berlin and Dresden from various historical and modern architectural styles. I really loved experiencing Berlin!

Here are some photos which are mostly me and buldings...

I'm quite jealous now...
I'd love to visit Berlin and see its eclectical mixture of architecture, both the modern in the West and the historic in the East. Having studied its devision as part of the modern history course at college, it's a very interesting place with an equally interesting story to tell, and I'd love to see it for myself.
