I almost feel guilty for liking Sim 4
I love the game, I love everything about it, I love the things that aren't IN yet + I mean lets be real it's missing a huge chunk of stuff, but I'm ok with that. I just, every time I try to say so on any of the other boards out of this site people are freaking MEAN about the fact that I don't hate the game! I adore the fact that I don't have 2 second stutters all the time when I'm running at fast speed because of invisible school busses and taxi's being stuck against a cliff or in a hole somewhere Is it as content heavy as Sims 3 was after however many years? Nope, but I firmly believe it will be even more so by the time it hits that many years. I'm ok with waiting. I just really wish that those who don't like it, wouldn't hate those of us who do as much as they hate the game Does anyone else here like it? Tell me I'm not the lone sims fan who still likes the game?

Don't feel guilty. You're an informed consumer who made a choice that works for you. And as long as it does, that's all that matters.

You are not the only one who likes the game and I think it's horrible that anyone would make you feel badly for liking what you like. That's so off - wrong, really! Just like what you like and to hell with anyone who tries to dictate what you enjoy!

*Edit* Just saw Tuber's response. Man, Tuber is so much nicer than I am! This situation just boils my blood!

you should never feel guilty about liking a game or anything that you like.

You don't have to feel guilty about it. You bought it and it seems you think it was worth the price. All that matters. I too love it the more I play it and see how the different traits make different sims act and react. At first the game as a 7/10 for me but it's creeping up to a 8/10.

You aren't the only one, a lot of the loudest people (not just on this site) are people that admit they don't have the game. So meh.

I'm with you and I just timidly expressed my love for the game on another thread. I fully expect to be blasted for that. I LOVE the look of the neighborhoods...so pretty and colorful. What I really love - and the lack of which made HATE Sims 3 - is that there are constantly people passing by the house so you can get to meet them. I made great families in S3 and it was so hard to get them to meet people. The "room mates" I'm playing - hopefully they'll hook up - are an artist and a gardener. Gardening is so fun and the small "wants" you have your sims fulfill add up to some pretty quick advancement. S3 constantly crashed on me and it locked up so much when I was playing I got sick of it. With the new game, everything's smooth and the sims are somewhat self-directed. My only gripe is that the beautiful sims I make in CAS are pretty ugly in game. I have to play with the graphic settings I guess...I know I've got a good system and a good graphics card since I bought this computer SPECIFICALLY so it would be way more powerful than needed. I don't even care what's NOT in the game. I want to enjoy what IS in it. S3 got so overwhelming with expanded content, I never got to explore everything. I want to do that in S4. Glad to hear I'm not the only one gutsy enough to admit I love the game! Happy simming!

Well, I knew there would be a lot of people who would like it for what it has already, and that it would probably load a lot more easily due to a less open world. I bet it'll run on my computer, which isn't quite top of the line. I think I'll get it someday.

You shouldn't feel bad about liking it. It does appeal to some and then it doesn't to some like me. I think there's room for everyone to be able to express their thoughts on it and still get on with each other.

I'm glad there are people who do like it. Perhaps someday if it improves I'll be willing to give it a try even though that's very unlikely for now haha. I just don't want to feel like I wasted my money on it like I did with TS3.

I was a pretty vocal skeptic about the game myself, too. There's still things with it that drive me bonkers, but in all honesty, playing it is SO MUCH FUN! I'm having such a blast. I don't blame anybody for being disappointed, or for not liking it, but I think there are lots of us who are falling in love with it already, sometimes even in spite of ourselves.

Just what I thought. I mean, there are people who don't particularly like toddlers, and well, with babies tied to the bassinets, there's no more danger in the game, unpatched or otherwise, of visitors stealing away the baby. It's very convenient, and with sim days lasting longer, you can do more stuff. This, my friends, is a Godsend. Even if there are no pools as of yet, there are still other ways to have fun and right now there's no necessity for pools since there are no seasons. I really don't worry about things like this, because each game engine has its own limitations and there are people working on this problem.

I just hope Sims 4 won't end up like the E.T. Atari 2600 game, becoming unappreciated despite all the hard work and marvelous attention to detail. The programmer was given only five and a half weeks to get it ready, and he poured lots of love into it. I mean, the human sprites were multicoloured, and some had maybe five or more colours. The humans' footsteps faded in and out in relation to their proximity to E.T., the collision detection was spot-on, and you could easily avoid falling back into the pits by simply moving E.T. either left or right once he got to the surface. Then there were the easter eggs. This guy must have worked long hours day and night to put all those features into that game. There were some glitches, but for the most part it was a decent adventure game. I don't know how someone could cram so much detail into maybe three kilobytes at the most.

We can definitely get on with each other and yea don't feel like you wasted money, wait a few weeks and watch some lets plays and see if it starts to appeal, it's definitely pricey for someone who's still not to sure. I remember when Sims 3 came out I bought it just because HEY NEW SIMS (I'd been around since sims the original) and I -hated- it. I ended up keeping playing sims 2 for almost 6 months i think before I finally ended up switching XD nothing wrong with waiting!

I was so pessimistic before the game came out but I'm finding myself enjoying it too.

Yup absolutely. As a sims fan I want it to be a success because I love this game. Hopefully it will be.

And I agree with you, waiting is good and It really depends on the individual. Watching the lets plays is interesting mind. Hopefully if I do decide to get it the price will be lower by then.

Anyway have fun playing it and ignore anyone who tries to be a douche and gives you grief for it.

Well I just really wish people would stop making this same false accusation over again. While I don't hate people who like the game, I am beginning to get a related emotion towards those who trot out this line.

I really dislike the Sims 4 and EA, but I've never said I hate people who do like it. I hope people who buy the game do like it, but I am certainly not shelling out $88 AUD for a half finished game.

Erm I apologize if I offended you. I haven't seen anyone say anything like this in the threads I've been on, so I wasn't aware it was a huge issue. I can say that being told I'm stupid, that if i like the game I should go drown myself or perform sexual acts for ER because OBVIOUSLY that's what I'm doing to even begin to think that their game is any good? That feels like hate to me. But hey I could be totally wrong. And I honestly didn't think anyone on this site WAS hateful D: I didn't say they were here, I said I came here to hide from all the horrible people on other sites.

Nope! That's why I came here, I was explaining to Inge I don't think anyone on this site IS hateful even those who dislike the game are more live and let live with those of us who do. That's what makes this community so bloody awesome.

I'm glad people are enjoying a game for which they paid their hard-earned monies. I've been in a couple of situations where I spent good money on a game with no way to return it and found out it had some horrible feature or whatever in it that just ruined gameplay. As much as I dislike EA and their lack of quality control I can't sit here and wish people buying the game a horrible experience.

Having said that, though, reading through people's impressions I see a lot of posts about how much faster it loads than TS3 did. I remember people saying the exact same thing about TS3 when it first came out and I'm going to say the exact same thing now as I did then. Of course it loads faster, you have a base game with no to very little custom content. Wait until the expansion packs and CC start piling up. That's when the load times will increase. TS2 base game loaded lickety split. Add expansions and CC and it took a good five minutes to load it. Base game TS3 the same thing. Add expansion packs and even a small amount of CC and again it took a good five minutes to get into a neighborhood.

You should never feel guilty for forming your own opinion based on your own experiences - this is actually the best way

I'm very much in the neutral camp, sims-wise. I understand there's a lot of things cut that I feel unhappy about while reading them, but there's also this excitement for a new sims game! I don't get to play until tonight/tomorrow so I'm in no place to form a solid opinion on the game yet but from the few let's play's that I've seen the game seems enjoyable even with the few mishaps.
However, this is all my personal opinion. And I have absolutely no hate or any other form of negativity over people who dislike the game. They are in their full right to do so

Well it would perhaps be better if you addressed it to the people who are doing it on other sites rather than bring it here, cos a lot of the people who use this site do so to try and keep away from all that tedious stuff

Nah, just kidding. My own game is downloading as of writing this. I've been very skeptical, but I decided to take advantage of the 24 hour return policy and take it for a spin.
For the record, a number of times people (myself included) have mocked the yibsims on the chat, but that has specifically been about the people who wouldn't accept any form of criticism against The Sims or EA, and who'd go off on a handle if anyone as much as mentioned a pool or a toddler. As long as you don't do that, you're cool in my book.
