Default NPC's
I don't know if those who have played have discovered which NPC's are present and which aren't, but from scrolling through Colour Magic (being able to access the full game's package files), I've determined by the names of the outfits that there are at least:

Female:

Bartender
Clown - DD
Gardener
Maid
Handywoman
Mailwoman
GrimReaper-ess (?)

Male:

Bartender
Clown - DD
Gardener
Maid (Butler?)
Mailman
Handyman
GrimReaper

There is also, under the "universal" section for gender, another Grim Reaper outfit which is different from the other two...

I am assuming anyway. I am only going by logical assumptions based on the names of the files Colour Magic is able to pull from the game.

I'm not saying for one second I am correct, or even close...

Thanks! I am a bit confused with clown, though. I don't have the game, so can anyone tell me where "clowns" come in?

There are no clowns, however there are clown outfits that came with LE or Premium, or DD. Also I have yet to see a repair man.

The two you are missing are pizza and gardener.

The gardener is returning?! That's great!

Ahh I have DD so that will explain the clown.

I listed Gardener for the male, forgot for female though.

Didn't notice anything for Pizza but it may have been called something different ?

That's interesting. Though there doesn't appear to be a handywoman/man in actual game play.

I'm not sure Bartenders are actual NPC's - I've seen on Let's Play's that it tends to just be a townie or someone actually in a playable household like I always see Pancake Bob as a bartender.

I've noticed Bob playing bartender too. It's oddly amusing.

Bartenders are on lounges or nightclub lots, not the park with a professional bar, which I don't understand why a NPC wouldn't man them.

I have not seen a mailman, handyman, or gardener. All of a sudden the bills are just in the mailbox.

This dude randomly walked by my sims' house. Notice the postbox on his sleeve and the letter in his pocket

Later I encountered him again, at the Blue Velvet. This time he looked like this.

So.. potential mailman (and.. something) here?

I would really really like to have firemen back in the game. What is the point of the smoke detector anyhow? I feel like I'm missing something...and my sim world is on fire.....helps

Does the game assign random townies to be temporary NPCs...? And no more actual NPC pool? Is this another attempt of laziness?

I've noticed the same sets of sims tend to be bartenders at the same places, so I'd say it assigns them as NPCs, but not temporarily.

Gardener, She seems to hang out in the public area's with harvestable tree's, planters. My sim currently lives in Willow Creek, and while visiting Oasis Springs the same sim was there tending the planters.

That is the Mailperson npc. Mailperson is female in my game, wearing the same outfit. I've seen her go right to the mailbox and open it to put bills in, but another time she was just close to the house and the game notified me of new bills.

I'm unsure about how it all works. I've seen Bob play bartender in quite a few LPs now so perhaps this is the case but it's not a temporary thing.

Either way it'd be great if the game offered more types of venues and NPCs.

I think the reaper outfits you have listed for male and female are in fact the costume outfits that come with the Life of the Party DLC. That pack also included hotdog outfits and the clown costumes.
