This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Invalid relationship with self
Oh dear... Things are looking grim for my hood.

My sim Quinn went and got herself knocked up by Trent Traveller. The baby (Corey) was born with an alien skintone:

Hoodchecker had this to say:
Hoodchecker: Sim has invalid relationship with self: Corey Traveller

I was able to fix this last one with Hoodchecker, but what about the skintone? Is there anything else I need to do? I don't necessarily have to change Corey's skintone if all is okay, I can just go with it, but is it a sign that things are about to go kablooey?

Well, that depends. It looks like a custom skintone. If the numerical value of the custom skintone is between that of Trent and Quinn, then it's a legitimate choice for the game to make, and nothing's wrong at all except that you need to pay more attention to how your skins are geneticized.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

I bet Trent will be happy when he sees that kid and starts wondering if it's his.

Just kidding. I second what Peni Griffin said: make sure the skin is geneticized properly.

No idea about the skintone but relationships can be edited and are not usually a problem. Just delete the ones where the sim links to themselves. The game is always donig it.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

If I remember right, that skin should only come for alien babies (it's been a while since I had any alien mishaps) and neither sim has so much as looked at a telescope. Grandma Cora had the Get a grandchild wish locked, but it wasn't fulfilled with this strange child, can't blame her really.

EDIT:
This is the skintone:

[TeaLeaf]Stargazer-Geneticized (.40).zip

And it's not the default alien one, apparently I still use the one Summersong made and I made default. The Stargazer skintone is just a regular one, so I suppose it could be set between Quinn and Trent Traveller...

Genetic values of 0.40 are right between S2 (tan) and S3 (medium.) So, if the one parent was S2 or lighter, and another was S3 one darker, it would have been normal for them to have an "alien" skintone baby at at this genetic value.

This page explains genetic values for skin more in-depth and shows you how to change the genetic value of a skintone. If I were you, I would change that kid's skintone (you would need to find another tutorial for that) and before having any more in-game births, change the genetic value of that skintone. A value of 0 would make it behave more like the maxis alien skin and not show up in ordinary births with two human parents. Of course, if an alien and a sim or an alien and an alien had a child, they could end up with that skin. Do what you think is best for your game.

HoodChecker can automatically unlink invalid relationships - run it a second time and choose "Remove" instead of "Check". (As always when making significant changes, backup first just in case.)

What does this have to do with the original post? Instead of necro’ing 10-year-old threads, I suggest making a new post

That's what happens when somebody posts two unrelated queries in the same message. Somebody else picks up on the second query and runs off with it.

Original post had: 1) Baby born with unexpected (alien) skin tone, and 2) Baby had "invalid relationship with self" (nothing to do with the skin tone, it's just something the game throws now and then).

Recent comments have had to do with query #2 (to which HoodChecker is AFAIK the best solution).
