Default Back to Bridgeport (again)
Hello everyone here,

It has been a while since I posted anything since I got quite bussy with real live.

Now working at home with the Corona Virus, I got back to the Sims 3, Played Bridgeport and remembered how much I hated the emptyness of that city...

So I got back into my CAW files and found my Bridgeport redo.
One of the most heard remarks was that there was to much CC in it so I started the buildings fresh.

My idea now is to start a tread with the grey shells, meaning the city would have NO cc and upload completed lots (maybe with help from other builders)
in the tread..
With the world now empty except for the shells, I would Like to know what people think before I even post it.
Is there even a need for a world like this?

Basicly it still is Bridegport but with some added areas like:

- An additional island (with manor and port)
- A small "village"under the expensive mansions near the lake, with a more towny feel.
- An destinct area for the "Castle Simms" an expansive mansion covering 8 lots.
- Bigger lots in the city that connect more to provide a more city feel while keeping the lotcount under 150.

The city will be devided into

Uptown:
(around central Park) with a hotel, some boutiques, the university, ofcourse several lots inside the park.
Also the cityhall and the police station will be here.

Downtown:
a lot of highrises where we will have offices clubs and bars ,

Simlatown,
A simlish chinatown with the matching lots.

The Hills,
Of coursea lush area where the mansions are and some of them are inspired on famous mansions.

Underhill,
The Village under the Hills, cafe's the marina, a casino and some charming apartments.

Industrial area
This will have some old industrial buildings with lofts, clubs and hightech companies and the junkyard etc.

Sports zone,
with stadium, sports bar etc.

The Projects, cheap housing and a more grungy feel.

I am planning to Hide the rabitholes under custom build houses, keeping the city "rabithole free" with an elevator connecting to the rabithole.
Also the subways are hidden downstairs. to make it all look and feel just right.

Each part of the city will get its own lightingposts and own tree's (in the grates) to give them their own face and I intend to have all clubs, bars and comercial lots included.

Here are some pictures showing the altered world and the skyline/ global layout.

What do you guys think?

Thanks, I will check the world out a little and make sure all streets are named and numbered,
I could add the area's on a map, maybe color them to show where they are in Bridgeport?

Where do you think I could find people to help decorate the lots inside?
Any help would be apreciated

Wow! I never thought I would see this world come back, I mean, Newport, one of the best custom worlds I have seen, I downloaded it within the versions, and customize it a bit, if you keep reading this, and you want some help, feel free to count on me!

Sorry I have not been in for a while, Real live needed my atention.
I am still working on the world, I brought the lot count down (again) and flattened some lots as well.
Also, I added some lots to be empty shells to make the game even smoother. I hope to figure out how to make them more like NPC-lots or maybe leave them as is (no visitors allowed commercial) keeping them empty (no interior walls etc) makes the game much lighter as well.
Also I was using some CC and toned that down a little.. It is not dead, it just takes ages

Always like seeing screenshots of this rebuild - in terms of layout it's got some similarities to the full-scale Bridgeport I've been sort of planning out over the years. Gives the place a scent of realism

It looks more like a city and I would have no problem with some being just deco like buildings, it gives it the look it needs without weighing it down. If I get mycomputer soon I love decorating but I am not sure how soon that will be.

Newport is honestly my fave world to play in. You did such an amazing job with the map improvements. I really enjoy the idea of you making further tweaks and now just having shells in the world. More people will def be able to play in this world. And again, Newport is seriously one of the best out there. Thanks so much for your work.

it really bugged me that Bridgeport was supposed to be this big city, yet felt empty and underdeveloped. this makes it much more like a real developed city, all it needs now are 100 odd sims to make it lively

Default Still alive!
After not being able to log into my account here, I am back and there is some good news.. I never stoped working on Bridgeport.

it is curently about 95% done and as a perfectionist that I am, I never stoped tweaking and improving it over all these years.

What I did the last couple of years:

I did reduce the number of lots and reduced the number of windows etc on lots to make it all run smoother and every apartment now has only 4 "neighbours-NPCs"to make it run a little better.

This means I also moved lots around and tried to incorporate all Store lots into the game but to be clear all lots are build by me.

I need to figure out how to upload it with the used CC (kept to a minimum but it still needs some cause I feel they are a must)
and I use rabithole rugs instead of the Rabitholes.

most bars and clubs now have a reduced number of bars and such to lower down the NPC count.

I also want to find a way to check what I used so i can credit the creators.

And I want a way to have the world with Sims living there incorporated.

I still need to finish the haunted house (it should be a tomb) and am not yet happy with how the lower bay area looks
but most houses are now playtested and Sims seem quite happy in there.

Enough said, You might want some pictures to see what I have been up to:

And some houses:

Thank you! it is good to be back.

It has been labour of love making this.

Just a minor area (4 lots total) that I want to solve witch will either be a hypermodern area, a Chinatown kinda area or something with old buildings that I need to figure out what to do there but it is so close and plays quite well.

I am leaning to a chinatown a little more to, it can easily have the Gipsywagon-rabithole and elixir shop and maybe a restaurant or something.. I am looking at inspiration as we speak ;-)

OMG, I’ve been setting up a world in Bridgeport for the perfect rotational gameplay for the last three days, and after playing for a bit, I’ve realized (once again) that Bridgeport is just too small. I always choose Bridgeport because I’m sentimental about the townies, but I always end up feeling discouraged from playing completely.

I’ve never played custom worlds before, and I checked some out today, but none really fit what I’m looking for. I haven’t played your first Bridgeport remake, but finding this thread and seeing you active recently - especially so close to finishing - feels like a godsend. I have a feeling this might be the perfect world file for me. The city looks beautiful, and I love that you’re keeping CC to a minimum along with all the tweaks and fixes to make the game run smoothly.

I’m so excited and want to know everything! Are you keeping all the original Bridgeport townies, or just your favorites? Do you add custom families of your own? Will there be an unpopulated file version available? Did you leave many homes unoccupied? What about empty lots?

You mentioned you only have 4 lots left to complete… How long do you think that’ll take? A month?

Two weeks?

Tomorrow?

Would you send it to me for some early “testing”?

Pretty please?

Tomorrow??? 0_0

Can’t wait! :P

While it is true I keep the CC to a mimimum, I do intend to use all the Store lots in here as well to justify the amount of lots (152)
That said I apreciate the compliment on how the city looks, I share your sentiment and it is exactly why I rebuild it over and over and over again to get it JUST right..

I keep Most of the townies but decided to turn down the Vampires a little (hemlock, Slayer,Talon-Striker,Striker and the Litttlers are gone) But I did replace 5 families with ones from Sunset Valley, Goth, Landgraab, Bachelors, Crumplebottom and Alto
And I changed things up a little with Some Households The Strikers became the Matells, (Barbie,Ken and Skipper) to match the Pink Victorian mansion while also adding my familie (Simms) for the gigantic mansion and add Tony Spark and Bruce Vayne and the Hallways Sisters (yes, these are all who you think they are) to get some more "interesting"Sims in there.
But you would be free of course to change things around.. cause I did keep some of the houses available for vampires.

The 4 lots you mention are a lot of work but good news on that front is that I decided what they would need to be.

It is a Shang Simla Town!

And the basics are there now, but I might need to delete/replace some Sims maybe to get it to work. (how many Sim-households are the max to keep it stable?

I was thinking a market with a restaurant using the food register, rabbit hole for the gypsywagon, and maybe another spa?
and a park in front with an Asian theme
A Dojo for martial arts with a rooftop workout/meditation space
An elixir shop and maybe some housing while I also considered turning the back of the lot into a Zen garden to keep the housing down..

I would appreciate input on these lots from anyone who reads this

Default Forgot to add pics.
So this is where I am at with that area of 4 lots, Right now I am leaning BIG into the Shang Simla Town.

On the market (with the green) I was thinking Restaurant - Gypsy Wagon rabithole -relics counter with Simla Town items to make it look like a store and a corner shop of witch I dont yet know what to do with.
There is a foodtruck as well and the green should be a Shang Simla Inspired Park (can I have rabitholes on a lot designated as park?

There is the Elixir shop with two fake residential buildings next door,

A dojo lot with maybe some fake stores facing the market. the Dojo is on the topfloor with the roofterrace facing the market and sea.

And another lot that has two residential buildings on it for now. I am also tempted to make it into a Zen garden in the rear.. there is some room and I just love hidden gardens in real live to so it would be nice,
There is enough Residential lots outside of Shang Simla Town so Sims can travel here easily

Once these are done I would be willing to share this world as a Beta for people to test.
How can I know there is no hidden CC in it?

I think Shang Simla Town is a great idea, and the Zen garden would work well with that too.

About the store lots, what would happen in my game if I don't own them? Would they just become empty lots?

I'm sorry, I can't answer any of your questions! I'm just a simple player, and I only started understanding Nraas Mods a bit more recently. I have no clue about game mechanics or improving performance

I can give you my opinion about the amount of households, though. I would keep the Bridgeport townies we know and love, + add a few of your own, but keep it to a minimum and leave as many unoccupied houses as possible, to leave players the space to fill with their own custom households and expanding generations of sims.

Thanks for the pictures, it's looking good Keep us updated! :D

I assume they would replace/delete items you dont have

Oh, Sorry I might have written the question poorly (Dutchie so English isnot my first language) The questions were a bit in general for everyone to be fair, not just to you ;-)
I just want as much input as possible

I do however appreciate your input on the families. Like I said, all the houses are there. Bridgeport came with 13 empty apartments/houses/lots, and 30 lots with families.

My World has 3 townie/NPC's only lots, 23 Empty apartments/houses and 32 families (and 3 empty lots for players to create their own lots on)
most families included are directly from the original Bridgeport and for the ones I imported I created houses to compliment the world (since I replaced Cook with the Alto's etc)
Since I am not a fan of the overly vampire inspired storylines in Bridgeport (In one week playing the city, almost every Sim turned vampire) I replaced most of those with families from Sunset Valley
BUT I did build the lots for the vampire Sims so everyone could in theory get them in there as well.

Default Beta Version Of Bridgeport By Me!!!!!
So If anyone would be willing to help me, I have the world ready for the Beta.

In this world: 65 community lots 5 parks, community lots. one empty lot making 71 Commercial lots (*Edit forgot the dive-lot and beach)
58 Apartments and houses and 8 lots that make up my mansion and 2 empty making 68 residential lots

In total that means there are 141 lots in this world of witch 136 are build by me and most are decorated in and out (see a bit more down)
there are NO visible rabitholes to mess up the world.

I still need help to include Sims into this world.. if anyone can help me?

I started like mentioned with the Bridgeport empty CAW map by Cawster and added some land, changed roads, fixed routing, added the second bridge, streetlights trees, decoration and parked cars and so on..

All to make Bridgeport into well... A city.

What is needed:
Awesims's Corniches : https://modthesims.info/t/579807
as well as her masonry wallpaler and duncan windows : https://simfileshare.net/folder/32217/
And Rabbithole rugs : https://modthesims.info/showthread....761#post4749761
Cyclone Sue's London Arch set is also used : https://www.thesimsresource.com/mem...-on/id/1168884/

I know I used some world items from Riverview, Roaring Heights and Twinbrook (bridges and some stuff like that)
and I used Gothique library wallpapers and windows.

Other than that All my content should be from EA/ store content but I kept it to a mimimum.
But did include an al fresco market, Duke of bowles lot and bits from the stones throw greenhouse and the glasblower lot.

I have all EP's and SP's so I must have used a lot of those from there as well.

It is a BETA! AND IS NOT YET FINISHED!

so it is close to be but is NOT yet finished.. (most Rabitholes for sure needs some deco and function, Hospital is bare, Cityhall and the terminal are empty inside and I believe my fire station isn't yet functional or decorated and there might be some other unfinished lots. as there are plenty lots in this world.. the dive-lot is also unfinished... etc!

I would greatly appreciate feedback so if you see something I missed or noticed a glitch or blatant mistake please let me know here.

or if people want to help decorate interiors...
I prefer it to see other people do lots as well to make it less of an over styled world where everything looks the same.
But I would prefer the lot itself on the outside to remain as is (with the exception of maybe the store facade)
If you want to help that would be great, share the lot here and I prefer no CC if possible.

With that said, the file is ready to be tested and (if possible) enjoyed.

I hope people would be willing to test it out and let me know here what they feel the world needs or is lacking.

I included some pictures for good measure to show how the world looks at least in my game right now.

And without further delay the file itself as well : http://www.simfileshare.net/download/5695819/
And my save file in case you want the Sims as well : http://www.simfileshare.net/download/5697052/

I can’t believe it’s out already! When you said those 4 lots needed a lot of work, I thought it might be another month or so. I know I won’t be sleeping tonight :D

I completely understand your decision to decrease the vampire population.

71 commercial lots? That’s impressive - loads to explore!!! I’ll soon download everything and hop in there to see for myself :D

I can help with making more families, though I’m not sure where and how to upload them. And do you have any specifics in mind for what you would like?
I’ve never made commercial lots, but I’m not too bad at decorating, so I may try to finish some if I get any good ideas.

Also, I was thinking that it might be a good idea to share this world on other websites to help spread the word. I think r/Sims3 on Reddit would be a great place to start. There are also YouTubers who review Sims 3 custom worlds - it might be worth reaching out to them and sharing the link. If they review it, the world could get more attention and you’d soon have lots of people willing to help out

I'm in and the city is unpopulated. I thought it was supposed to be populated, or is that what you meant when you asked for help with including sims into the city? If you're unsure how to do this, it can be done easily with Nraas Porter.

_____
EDIT:

I had to download a different mod with rabbit hole rugs, as the one you linked had only 4 rugs, and most rabbit holes weren't showing on the map. After downloading this mod the rabbit holes are now working. I checked a few and they were functioning correctly. I thought that the Bookstore rabbit hole wasn't working at first, but then I found that the entrance doors needed unlocking for some reason.

Are you planning on making the university functional? This mod has university buildings rabbit hole rugs, too :D

I noticed that sims were trying to swim through the Central Park pond to get to places around the park, or to the JAVA cafe, even when it seemed unnecessary and dumb lol. I don't think I ever seen sims swimming in park ponds, so it felt quite odd. I wonder if there is a way to disable sims swimming in it?

I also noticed that some buildings didn't have windows when I loaded into the lot, but the windows were showing when looking from further away, or the map view. I'm not sure if that's a glitch, or is it because I'm missing some content. I don't own all EP and SP. I added a few pictures with examples.

Apart from that, for now I noticed a floating object on a balcony of one of the apartments and glitched arches in the cementry. Not sure what happened there, it looks normal on a screenshot you posted.

In general, I think that this city has a lot of potential, and I feel inspired to finish the insides of some buildings. You've done a great job!
