This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Windowed Mode for UC with New EA App?
I switched from Origin to the new ea app yesterday and I can't figure out how to get the game to open in windowed mode. There is no longer a "Sims2SP9.exe" in "C:/Program Files (x86)/Origin Games/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection/Fun with Pets/SP9/TSBin" which is what was needed to make a desktop shortcut and then be changed to get windowed mode. TIA

There should still be a "Sims2SP9.exe" file somewhere, most likely in the new ".../The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection/Fun with Pets/SP9/TSBin" location. The new base folder likely has a new name instead of "Origin Games".

I think the folder is now just in Program Files under either Double Deluxe or Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. It's no longer in Origin Games. Whoward told me and I already forgot.

Thank you. I found it. Right it was supposed to be. I think I must've had a brain fart and had looked in CSBin instead of TSBin. I deleted my old shortcut and made a new one and added the -w to make it windowed mode. Still won't open in windowed mode. I think the ea app isn't allowing it to happen.

Oh, and the only Sims 2 UC I could find is in the Origin Games folder. I searched high and low but I couldn't find a new version made by the ea app.

Thank you. I looked for the game under both those names in the Program Files (x86) and Program Files. I only have what I've always had which is The Sims 3 Ultimate Collection in the Origin Games folder in Program Files (x86).

I did find "Sims2ep9.exe" there and made a new shortcut and changed it to windowed mode but the game still opens full screen. I think the ea app isn't allowing it.

But on the bright side, all my CC, lots, SC4 terrains, and userStartup.cheat are still in my game. I was afraid switching to ea app would reset everything.

I'm not sure about this, but I read somewhere (and I can't remember where) that the EAapp version contains the Store version, which would cause some issues with trying to modify the SimsEP9.EXE, since there's a different EXE that controls the Store version. The Origin version didn't have the Store version and wouldn't have these issues.

If the Store version is not the issue, it's possible you have to detach your game from the app with a "No-CD patch" to do modifications like this. It also lets you play the game without the app running in the background.

And just a reminder that the switch probably reset all the files in the install location, so if you edited anything in the game files in your Origin game, this has most likely all been reset, such as lighting hacks, mods put in the Bin folders, the CEP files, GraphicRules, and so on.

That file reset in the program files is a real thing because it happened to me earlier in the year when my game install got broken by Norton and Orgin had reapired my game I had to reset my shortcuts and reinstall CEP and scriptorium as well as my lighting to fix everything.I've got the updated RPC launcher and my game is opening up in a window as is my regular shortcut.

Yes, I just tried to download it from the EA app the other day and it was Store Edition. Which means it may be a different exe. My archive had Sims2SC as the exe

It's not the store edition on the EA app. It's the Ultimate Collection just like on Origin. Nothing changes at all when you swap apps, nothing gets reinstalled or reset and where the game files are isn't changed either, that's only if you're just installing the game, not if you already have it installed.

Thanks for all the help.
My ea app showed that the only game I had was The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, the one I've had for years. So I went into Program Files (x86) and moved the Origin Games folder to my desktop. After that, the ea app showed I had no games downloaded but I had The Sims 2 Double Deluxe available to download. That wasn't there before So I did. Once I downloaded it, I now have an EA Games folder with The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection in Documents plus an EA Games folder with The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection in Program Files. So I made a desktop shortcut from the Sims2EP9.exe there and windowed moded it and still the game opens in full screen. No biggie. I can alt tab when needed.
I still have all the CC in Downloads, SC4 terrains, userStartup.cheat, Cep, lots, etc. I don't have the stuff I put into Res-TSdata-catalog-bins or whatever that destination is. I like to put stuff like the Pet Stories and Life Stories CC there so it won't have "*" and be deletable in the game. I can put all the missing stuff back by copying the files in my original Origin game files.
Funny thing is I deleted the downloads in the EA app version of the game and it got deleted from my old UC in Documents. I copied it so I can easily put it back.
Would it be a disaster if I put the Origin Games folder back into Program Files (X86)? Would I have 2 UCs to play or would it screw everything up? If I can have both, I would keep the EA app one as a vanilla game for challenges and the Origin one for keeping up my regular hoods.

Nope. Mine is only Store Edition. It doesn't contain anything else. I'm trying to get EA to fix mine, but I've heard other simmers have the same issue. So it's hit or miss it seems what you get. If you do a full reinstall away from Origin then it does change the filepath.

If you removed and backed up the Origin games folder, you should be able to pull what you had in the TS Bin folder and place in the installed location. I'm not sure if it would mess anything up, but it would take alot of extra hard drive space if you kept the Origin install files.

Yes, I plan on adding my old TS Bin cc to the EA app version of UC. I'm keeping the Origin UC files for now in case I the EA app one is problematic for me.
