Default 4t2 Hair Conversion Issues
First time poster, long time lurker! Made an account just to ask this question, haha.

I've been learning how to convert hairs from Sims 4, and everything goes well until it's time to make the mesh and recolor files. Despite the fact that I'm pretty sure I'm linking them properly, the hair shows up invisible in Bodyshop. I've attached my mesh file and a test recolor file I made. I'm completely at a loss as to where to go from here, so if anyone could take a look at them and let me know if there's something I'm missing, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Everything looks like it's linked correctly, but the placement of the mesh is wrong on the skeleton (it's near the hips instead of on the head). Could have various causes - using the wrong skeleton, not having positioned the hair properly before importing, size differences between SimPE and Blender (if you're only using Blender), or similar.

It's possible all it needs is repositioning.

Make sure you use the correct age and skeleton when making the meshes. If you make an adult female hair, use an adult female skeleton. If you make a toddler hair, use a toddler skeleton. Otherwise you can get trouble with how the hair (or clothing/CAS item) shows up. You'll want to first import in the skeleton for the correct age/gender, then the mesh you want to work with.

Oh. That's my fault! I moved the head mesh down so I could adjust things better. I guess I didn't realize it was attached to a skeleton and the placement mattered. Thanks for letting me know! I'll reposition it and see if that fixes the issue. Appreciate the help! <3

The exact placement of the "hair" group matters, since pieces of it usually shows through. If it's been moved and doesn't get moved back to its exact placement again, you'll get gaps in the hair/head (it's easiest is to reimport a new "hair" piece).

Repositioning fixed it, thank you so much! And yeah-- what you just explained makes perfect sense, I don't know why I thought I could move it without moving it back. The perils of learning a new thing on little to no sleep, I guess? Thank you for your help
