Default SimPE - Install Expansion Packs - Some Questions
Hello there, Sims2-Fans!

I started playing the game a few days ago after not playing it for years, and I‘m completely in love again with this game

Since I‘m actually a console player, I am not really familiar with modding.
I already downloaded some minor mods, which work just fine, but im always a little afraid of corrupting the game, so I‘m very careful.

I recently run into a problem that I can‘t change the name of a household. I was searching on the internet and it seems the only way is to use SimPE.

There are some things I want to make sure before downloading, so I decided to register here and ask the Pros!😂

1.
The following is the latest version, right?

https://modthesims.info/d/30839/sim...sion-0-75f.html

2 It says that it does work with the base game.
What exactly does that mean?
I have Deluxe (Base+Nightlife), Pets and Seasons installed. (Left University an OFB out, but maybe install them later)
Does it mean I can install it without a problem If i have the mentioned EPs installed?

3. I plan on installing more EPs the following days. (Have them all on disc)
Do I have to do something with the SimPE if I install a new EP to keep the SimPE working as intended and not corrupt my files?
Or can i just keep installing EPs without worrying?

I really hope that this is the right place to post.

Since english ain‘t my native language, I hope you don‘t mind if there are some mistakes.

Thanks in advance for your time and answers!☺️

Greetings from Germany!🇩🇪

75f is the version I'm using. It has some issues (especially the user interface), but if you can live with those, it's fine.
There are a couple other versions here (75.69 and 77.69 - it's possible they're a bit more stable than 75f):
https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=630456

As long as you get one of the newer versions (73 was the earliest update for M&G), SimPE is compatible with any packs you've got, as long as you have at least the basegame installed (Deluxe counts).

You have to set up SimPE with the games you've got installed (in Tools/Preferences). After this you can turn packs on and off, which influences searchable items, what shows up in the object overview, and to some degree which options will be available ingame if you make mods and CC for your game. Not entirely sure if it influences neighborhood editing, though (I don't think so? Unless it's spesific to EP memories/wants and those kind of things?)

If you install new EPs, you just add them to SimPE in Tools/Preferences, so SimPE can access them. If you've made mods/CC, it's likely you'll have to update the items to be compatible with new packs if you've made it without the newly installed EPs (depends on the EP/mod/CC item).

Also, backup your game BEFORE editing your game - neighborhoods/sims/etc. - in SimPE, and keep the backup at the very least until you're sure your tinkering went as expected. If you're not familiar with SimPE (and even if you are), things can go wrong when editing, and you can end up with anything from minor inconveniences to a giant mess.

Thank you very much.
That answers all my questions!

If I decide to install University and OFB after all the other EPs (out of order), there also shouldn‘t be any peoblems with SimPE I suppose?
