ABOUT THE GAME
AI People combines sandbox simulation with adventure/RPG elements. AI-driven NPCs learn, feel, interact with their environment, utilize tools, and communicate with other NPCs. Instead of a fixed plot, NPCs dynamically respond to the player, environment, and each other, resulting in emergent storylines.

Play as your chosen character or craft unique scenarios in the editor.

I started searching the site to look for evidence of cryptocurrency, and then I thought, one of the bright young things here might already know something about this game.

Even if it is a real game (not a scam), I wouldn't buy it because the graphics are bad (my opinion, of course). I know nothing of the game, except that there is a credit system that you can spend to upgrade something (my observation).

One youtube commenter writes: ''What a dystopia where you have to hook up chatgpt and pay for it as well so you can play the game.''

So, I guess it is free, but you need to pay for chatgpt?

Other commenter writes: ''Game that records your voice and sends it to the cloud. yeah, no thanks.''

This is very serious because they can use your voice to scam somebody from your family. I think this happened in Australia because there was news about it worldwide.

Another commenter writes: ''They say it has an offline model but they still want you to pay 10$ a month despite this. Scam.''

So, it is pay-to-play? Also, a scam?

Another 'avoid at all costs' by the sound of it, thanks @Casimir.

if I may react to that. AI People is a standalone game, that focuses mostly on NPCs, that are driven by AI, which allows them to react autonomously to the environment, to what happens in the scenario or to conversation with player or other NPCs.

The "brain" of those NPCs is thanks to usage of Large-Language Models (LLM), plus models to enable Text-to-speech (TTS) and Speech Recognition. All that infrastructure is through cloud models, which has a cost for each usage.
That is why there is purchase model, that for 10 USD you receive 1000 Credits, which are enough for more than 15 hours of gameplay, when the interactions are being created within the scenario (not in editing mode).
The subscription can be cancelled any time and also players can use their credits whenever they want.

In case player has very strong GPU (12+GB VRAM), it is possible to switch to Local LLM and Speech recognition, which will lower down the credit cost. There is an option to switch off TTS, which enables a possibility to play scenarios without the need of spending a single credit. Anyway, developers of this micro-AA studio GoodAI are working on potentially making it possible to use for players with weaker PCs, as well as looking for options to allow local model of TTS.

Recorded voice is only being used to technically transfer it to text. Nobody is holding or saving those samples anywhere. If anyone is worried about that, it is possible to either use local Speech Recognition, or completely switch this feature off.

I hope this helps to explain about AI People

Correct me if I am wrong, but does that mean you need to buy credits every second day? Is this game supposed to be like a spin on a life simulator? The characters in the game do have needs which is interesting.

I feel like someone cannot see much of this game from the ads. For example, is there a build/buy option in this game? What about the world or worlds, if there are more of them?

No, you don't have to buy credits that often. As I mentioned earlier, those 1000 credits are enough for 15 hours of gameplay within the scenario, when the interactions through LLM are created, simply when NPCs do something, think, speak etc. As the game is currently mostly about small scenarios and interaction with those NPCs, players usually spend just several minutes in one scenario. You can spend hours defining the scenario plot, biography of characters or even using Level Editor to setup the scene itself, if you'd like.

It is difficult to define, if it is something like a life simulator or not. We will probably get there in the future. But so far it is mostly build in a way to show, that we have this technology allowing to interact with NPCs like they would be real. You can technically just easily define, that the NPC is f.e. Sherlock Holmes and while playing the scenario (even without a plot), the character would react and behave like he would be Sherlock Holmes. Of course within the possibilities of the environment around him.

The game is far from being in final state. We will obviously do our maximum to make it much more interesting, interactive, bigger etc. etc., but currently there are three predefined environments - Apartment, Island and Farm and you can setup a scenario using props and with up to five characters from the list of currently 13 options. It is possible to change their biography, names, or scenario plot.

Just one thing. Try to imagine Sims with AI People technology ...

That technology about npc talking with ai is going to be in almost all video games in a few years.

I think you can already guess my two cents: I don’t support ChatGPT. It’s a waste of drinking water. Therefore, I’ll pass on this game. Also, who wants something that hoards information on you?
