Default Recoloring trees - problems
Hello,

I attempted these questions in another MTS-forum but I will try here as well.

I am attempting to recolor plants and trees and have been following the links from Aquire Simoleons and Frankie Gruesims.

Since I am only recoloring them, my understanding was that I shouldn't have to edit the HEX-files as in these tutorials, as they are changing the shape. When importing the recolored trees into my world file, there are white "spots" / outlines on my trees. I am doing a sort of gloomy world, so I really would like to not have to change my entire terrain to match the trees. I have photoshop 2025 and have followed the tutorials that seem to work for others.

First thread, depicting the first problem: https://modthesims.info/showthread....946#post5999946

I will attach pictures depicting the current problem. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or have had similar issues?

Potentially an issue with the image format, could you attach the recolour package to a reply?
And are they standalone recolours or defaults for existing trees?

Hi,

They are default for existing trees (in a specific world that I am building, so I am importing the dds/IMG-files into the world file).

Does this link work, the dds files should be in there: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/qppe...t=hcrzrstp&dl=0

So I open the files in photoshop, I load the background layer from the alpha channel, I inverse the selection and delete that. Then I edit the Hue/Saturation (will attach the settings for the Fir Tree, the Very Tall Fir Tree and the TreePanoramic if that is of any help). Then I import these files into the world file (s3pe) to make them default replacements (but for that world only).

Cutting out the image with the alpha is most likely the source of the problem, and an unnecessary step.
The alpha channel already does the cutting out ingame, so the image itself doesn't actually need to look transparent in Photoshop. The white background is what's leaking white pixels, the original colour was there to prevent that.

You can make your colour adjustments to the original textures without any other steps, and as long as you save with DXT5/BC3 compression the transparency will be preserved

Oh and of course the problem would be me overthinking the process. ........ THANK you, you are an angel for taking the time
