Default Launcher Not Working on Linux...?
So I've been at this for awhile now. I was able to go through the install wizard no problem, but when I go to run the launcher, it just throws this error code: 0xe0434f4d in 32-bit code (0x7b662597). I've uninstalled mono, downloaded .net in multiple versions, uninstalled wine & re-downloaded it in 32-bit. I've re-installed the game each time I did each step, and it keeps throwing that code. I honestly just want to download Windows 7 in a virtual machine & run it through there at this point, I'm so fed up. Does anyone know exactly what I have to do to just get the launcher to load....? If I need to post anything to help y'all further understand I'm willing to even post my social security number if it means you have answers :3.

Hi,
I use Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop 42 on my main desktop (recently switched from Linux Mint) and also own a Steam Deck; I can run The Sims 3 on both using Lutris.
I have found that it is better to run TS3W.exe directly instead of Sims3Launcher.exe; historically I have had trouble with the launcher.
If you need the launcher for installing Sims3Packs, using Delphy's Sims 3 Pack Multi-Extracter is a good alternative.

As a side note, I do use a Windows 7 VM (patched with Legacy Update) for compiling script mods using Visual Studio 2019; I have yet to find a way to build for .NET 2.0 using Mono within Visual Studio Code on the host OS.

Interesting, I’ve heard of people bypassing the launcher completely but I really wanted to install expansion packs. I didn’t know there was an “alternative launcher” of sorts. I’ve had trouble just running the game itself too, it’s also throwing error codes, but I guess I’ll try running it with Lutris instead of PlayOnLinux when I get home. Do you know what exactly the code means though…? From the things I’ve been seeing through research it seems that it has to do with .net but honestly I have no clue.

A bit of a necropost, but I did eventually figure out how to compile script mods on the host OS. I apparently don't have permission to write a tutorial on it, so I might ask about it, but I do think given the growing fatigue of Windows (mostly due to Windows 11), I think it'd be nice to have a tutorial on how to build script mods on non-Windows platforms; I assume my method will also work on the Mac because MonoDevelop is a cross platform IDE.
