This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Ultimate Collection - Specific apartment sublot crashes on load - other apartments in same building and other lots in neighborhood load fine
Howdy! I'm revisiting the Sims 2 after a few years and I've noticed that one specific apartment sublot crashes every time I try to load it EDIT: I found another lot in my neighborhood that has the same issue, crash logs when attempting to load this lot look very similar to when I attempt to load the apartment sublot 😥. Here's what I've tried, in roughly the order I tried it (edited with more things I've tried):
  1. Tried loading the lot normally - about 20 seconds into the load, the game crashes and I have to use Task Manager to end the Sims process
  2. Loaded another family in the same apartment building, different apartment - loads fine, can interact with the problem family just fine
  3. Loaded another lot in the same neighborhood and used the Sim Blender to summon each member of the family individually to the lot, then move them into the test lot - each family member moved in just fine, with nothing obviously abnormal
  4. Ran the Hood Checker against my neighborhood and removed any invalid references. Attempted to load the lot again, crashed in the same manner
  5. Loaded the other family in the same apartment building and attempted to visit the problem family - visiting the problem lot showed that there were no objects in the lot (!!!)
  6. Removed all CC + saved sims from my game, attempted to load the lot. Still crashed
  7. Re-added CC and saved sims, attempted to load the lot with boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true - crashed
  8. Deleted cache files - crashed
  9. Followed BoilingOil's troubleshooting steps here: https://leefish.nl/mybb/showthread....=38122#pid38122 for the 2nd residential lot experiencing this issue (couldn't package the apartment family) - the game crashed during the packaging, but still created a Sims2Pack file. I installed the packaged lot to my game and placed it in my hood - the house was completely unfurnished...

Some other PC/game specs:
  1. Ultimate Collection
  2. Windows 10, GTX 970
  3. 4 GB patch applied
  4. Graphics Rule Maker applied
  5. No CD Patch
  6. All anticorruption mods listed here are installed, except tombstonemovefix : https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=532696
  7. Multiple other households in the same neighborhood (both apartment and normal houses) worked without issue prior to this

I suspect from my testing that there's something weird with the lot itself and not the family, but I'm not sure what it could be. I took a look at the crash logs and didn't see anything obviously wrong aside from the absurdly high memory usage (I'm guessing something on the lot is failing to load and causing a mem leak, which in turn causes the game to crash?), but hopefully someone here can make sense of it

Thanks to anyone who's read this far! I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem and has any suggestions on what I can try to fix it. I'm comfortable enough with SimPE and any other debug tools to try and salvage this lot or get more information! I think the easiest fix for this issue would be moving out the family and placing them in a different lot, but curious about what went wrong with the original lot that's causing it to crash so I can avoid it in the future. I think both of these problem lots are two of my oldest households, both with a few gravestones/urns and custom paintings by someone long deceased.

Are you able to move the families out of the lot from hood view? That should delete the apartment sublot.

Whoops, forgot to check this thread - yes! I tested moving the family out and into a random empty house and it was fine. Thanks for the suggestion! I'm gonna shop around for some nice prebuilt houses here so I can play them again. I'll do this for now, but I'm really curious what caused this in the first place
