Sims 3, Late Night, Pets, Seasons
Default How to make foliage texture appear less detailed from a distance.
I'm currently working on creating foliage custom content (CC) for The Sims 3. However, I’m facing an issue where the trees appear sparkly when viewed from a distance, which is not in line with the original trees from the game. I've attempted to utilize mipmap settings with my textures, but unfortunately, when I do, the leaves do not display unless I am extremely close to the tree.

I would appreciate any advice or solutions to help resolve this problem. Here are the DDS save settings I am currently using with mipmaps. Thank you!

Are you recolouring existing trees, or making new trees from scratch?

Hi!
I think I recently found the solution for this for someone else (yesterday, so quite the timing!).

In the Nvidia export settings, scroll down to the bottom and make sure to tick Scale Transparency for Mipmap Coverage. This will protect mipmaps with fine transparency from that disappearing effect.

Secondly, unrelated to the issue, you're going to want the Compression Effort to be set to 'Highest'! Fastest = lowest quality

Wow, thank you so much! It actually worked! I hadn’t thought about adjusting the Compression Effort since I wasn’t very familiar with the DDS settings, haha. I really appreciate your help with that as well! You’re amazing!<3
