Default Neighborhood feedback - Calabruhsas
Hey y'all!

So, I've been hosting Calabruhsas on my tumblr for a while now, mainly because I was too lazy to take enough pictures to post it to MTS after finishing it. However I have a bad habit for noticing things after submitting them, which is what happened to the hood. Now that like what, two years have passed, I wanna do a bit of a refresh of Calabruhsas to fix annoyances and improve the hood somewhat.

So what I'd like to ask y'all is to please give me feedback on what I should change in a potential version 2. From actual fixes like "this mailbox is inaccessible" or "this community lot is unusable" to just things you think should be improved like "there should be XY community lot included" or "this family is too plain and should be more interesting".

Some general info about Calabruhsas: it's based on that pre-covid celebrity tea era combined with the image of LA my teenage self had, with messy celebrities and drama. There are also many references to stuff familiar to me but which might go over others' heads now that I think about it (like the Karkrashian kids being half based on Chekhov's Three Sisters). Also, there is CC included in the download whose sources are in the tumblr post I also linked above.

So yeah, please let me know what feedback y'all have lol

I think the theme you chose is really juicy! I've downloaded it and will try it soon. I think Kardashian-style photos in Sims for the album would be cool. ^^

Thanks <3 What photos are you referring to though? Despite appearences I never Kept Up With The Kardashians so unless you mean the original title card I don't know :`(

I wanted to say that if you're going to do some celebrity-inspired families, doing some drama-like photos for the album, or posing, or with cameras or something celebrity-inspired, would be fun. XD

Going off of the picture on your Tumblr, here's what I like: The jungle area, and the Mid-century area.

What I think needs improvement; Your arrangement of props seems too mechanical, I suggest removing two of the billboards near the shopping area and take the other two and angle them more naturally along the side of the road. Sims need to see whatever it is you're selling

I'm not sure I understand why you used Maxis buildings for the city backdrop as it kind of obstructs the view, maybe go for a skybox and let them breathe fresh air? How about a farm, or a maybe if we're keeping the city theme, an airport?

The jungle was supposed to be a beach area LMAO

The mechanical props is good advice, I was very uptight and "everything needs to be perfect" when making it so you best believe I counted the button presses on those rotations, I might audit hood deco while I'm at it

The maxis buildings were supposed to be like, "continue this way and you'll get to the more bustling downtown" sort of sendoff, I think BDC has something similar? The airport sounds good too, it'll functionally probably just be a general store but it's a good idea

I really like your idea for this neighborhood! I’ve gone through each empty residential lot and the beach community lot to see if I can find anything to fix. I’ll list what I found, if I don’t mention the lot, it means I didn’t find anything. I will try to get through the rest of the community lots today and maybe get to the inhabited lots. I've really enjoyed what I've seen so far, and love that the lots are CC free, but still fit the theme.

Residential Lots (Empty):
None of the empty residential lots have lights. I’m not sure if that is intentional.
29 Luxury Street and 19 Luxury Street do not have kitchen sinks

Community Lots: As a general note, I love all of your descriptions. They’re super fun, and bring the neighborhood to life. The bus stops are realistic and adorable. Such a great addition to add to the realism.

Beach Marker: The bathrooms do not have a roof. In the description contains should be contain.

Beach Disco: The description made me cackle. I think “woohood” should be spelled differently, but I don’t know if there is an official past tense version. I think WooHoo’d. Maybe.
You cannot get behind the bar, which may be intentional. I know my drunk sims spend way too much time trying to propose to the bar tender.

ETA:
Finished going through the neighborhood. I haven't play tested anything, but the builds are really great, the sims are set for some drama, and I love that you brought in Holly Alto. All of the descriptions are hilarious. There are a few that are worded a little oddly, but I think some of those involved a play on words that I'm not sure was an error (more likely my ignorance on the reference).

Post Office: Cannot access behind the counter (that may be intentional)

Fame Suites: Top floor Apartment, office not fully painted

Commercial Condos: Back corner chair at dining tables are inaccessible (haven't play-tested, so I may be wrong here)

Fart: No garage doors

Neither owned lot/business has an open-close sign.

Thanks for the feedback!

The residential lots not having lighting is definitely NOT a choice, it's something I forget even in played houses very often lol. Noted the kitchen sinks.

I'm 100% sure I stole the idea for the bus stops from someone else, I don't know who though. I'm just gonna say Roxxxy Andrews.

Noted the bathroom. I don't remember the description, but I'm pretty sure it's one of those things that, from an ESL education seemed more correct than it felt (like how "quite" shouldn't mean "very", you feel). Similarly with "woohoo'd", I never got the note how that sort of apostrophe works but to me both spellings are hideous lol.

The bar being closed off is intentional, it's to fight off my townies' tendencies to head straight to the tiny spaces they really shouldn't go to, like behind the bars or behind the selling counters. This is also why half of the post office is behind a set of walls with no door leading to them. (Though to be honest I might just remove that lot altogether since it serves little more purpose than an obscure reference in a bio.)

I agree. I try avoid using any spelling of woohoo'd because they're all terrible. I'm sure one of them is the "correct/accepted" spelling, but I don't know which one it is.
Blocking off the bar makes a lot of sense. My sims are always trying to propose to the bartender after one drink.
I think the post office is really well-built, and a interesting lot idea. I've never thought of adding one to my neighborhoods before, but yours inspired me.
