Default Converting Bed TS4 to TS2, how to recolor bed without being overridden by global palette and retain/recreate its animation?
Hi this is my first post, I want to ask concerning about converting TS4 CC to TS2 CC. I’ve read a lot of tutorial, and I’ve be able to follow through the tutorial provided. But I guess the CC I want to convert were rather difficult for first timer, and there’s a time I spend so much just to figure out how the GUI works (especially blender ). What I want to do is convert this Futon CC by misaki to The Sims 2 CC.

My Questions were:
  • How to assign the mesh bedding using their own texture, and not the global one without being overridden by global matrass texture?
  • Is there anyone successfully converting a bed animation to new mesh? I think this is more about technical issues with blender app itself… but is anyone can direct me what to learn about to just barely enough to deal to transferring the animation into new mesh? I’m guessing it’s about to adjusting the joint/CRES file and armature in blender to the new mesh vertices/vertex group?

so far I have:
  • Installed SimPE 77.69.26, CEP, blender 3.3, GMCP plugin by djAlex88, Sims 4 Studio beta
  • I’ve successfully get the CC mesh using Sims 4 Studio, got file: “futon.obj” containing the mesh and “texture.png” on each color. I’ve separated the mesh into, pillow, matrass, and blanket. I’ve exported it into: pillow.obj and futon.obj (this mesh were a merge between matrass and blanket, as the mesh I “clone” also were a merge of matrass and blanket)
  • I’ve clone a cheap bed object in SimPE, changed the GUID using randomizer, replace the all the name on OBJD data, on GMDC replacing the mesh to the one I’ve exported.
  • bedding (that consist of pillow mesh) to a pillow.obj
  • bedding (that consist of matrass and blanket) to futon.obj
  • for now I don’t change about colonial object, that deal to make shadow under blanket. and delete the frame mesh from gmdc file.
  • I’ve changed the texture image on TXTR to the one I got from Sims 4 Studio, but somehow it was overridden by global color palette. I’ve also tried to make new MMAT using this tutorial, but the bedding still using the selection of global texture selection. How to assigned the mesh to be using their own texture and not the global one for matrass? I also want to create a new texture selection for this object…
  • I’ve read a bit, that retaining animation to object were hard. Especially the bed, I have not yet find any tutorial to convert a bed at all, but considering it is can be applied to other objects (fridge, dresser, etc), can I also applied it on bed? Is there anyone out there were successful to made animated bedsheet? I’ve tried Micke tutorial but when I import via Milkshape there’s a warning of too many morph for bed. So I just went to try use blender, I’ve extracted the GMDC file from original Maxis bed -> import it in blender the geometry and the skeleton, do nothing else -> exported to a gmdc again via blender -> and try to replace the original one with the one I exported from blender.
  • But somehow there’s a pop up message that saying “The parent CRES was not found. This means, that SimPE, is unable to build the joint hierarchy”. I’m guessing the CRES is the imported armature, but I’ve imported it too, why it doesn’t appear when it was exported?
And somehow when you imported it using the plugin in blender, it was imported into +Y axis in blender, but if you want SimPE to be able to read it correctly you should assign it to –Y axis (rotate 180 degree on Y axis) on blender…
However, if you imported using waveform (.obj) it imported correctly on the right axis direction, is it more about the plugin problem? I think I need the tutorial using the plugin, but I've not found people who put a tutorial step by step with picture...

I think that’s what were on my mind….

Thank you so much!
