I've been having fun with Lazy Duchess's height mod lately, and as I've got back into playing Pleasantview recently I want to use it there. But that means I have to figure out how tall all the sims should be... and I'm struggling.

So I thought I'd post here and ask your thoughts: who is tall, who is short, who is about average?

I think Don Lothario is short, or at least shorter than average. I think Mary Sue is short. I think Daniel is taller than average (he's a professional sportsman), and the twins have inherited his height?? I think Kaylynn Langerak is tall.

In my head- Cassandra is tall, as is Mortimer. Bella was slightly shorter than average and Alexander will be short. Nina and Dina are average height, Don is definitely short, and sensitive about it! I think he'd wear cuban heels a lot. Daniel and Jennifer are tall, John burb is average height and Lucy will grow tall like her mother's family I think. Mary-Sue is tiny and petite, but the twins will be tall like Daniel. I like to think that Coral is short, and Herb tall. Darren is definitely tall, but I think Dirk will follow his mother and be slightly short. Brandi is average height, but her boys will be tall like their father. Meadow Thayer is short, Goopy Gilscarbo should be the shortest sim in the hood, and Joe Carr, Komei Tellerman and Ivy Copur (adult) should be tall. Gordon King should be short, as should Kaylynn. Robi Charvat and Remington I like to make tall as can be! Repairmen are hilarious in their animations if height altered, so Waylon should be very tall and Arcadia small.

Mortimer is average, but short in his older age (my interpretation of him is always gonna be John Astin as Gomez Addams)
Cassandra is tall, but has "Creepy Susie" posture that makes her look shorter

Dina is average, Nina is a bit taller (Don strikes me as someone who likes a taller woman anyway)

Brandi is short since I imagine her looking up at Dustin when lecturing him.
Dustin I imagine being tall in like a "you should be an athlete, not a thug" type of scenario.

John and Jennifer are both average in contrast to Daniel and Mary-Sue's tall/short

The height mod I'm using makes women shorter than men anyway, so I'm going with John is average height and Jennifer is taller, as with simsample's suggestion - but that will make them about the same height.

I had to have a look at heights in my hood, which has all the Pleasantview townies and NPCs though not the Pleasantview families. This group skews towards the shorter sims, but Gordon King is indeed the shortest of the lot!

Goopy: 75 - he's one of Ivy's conquests but hasn't yet been made playable.
Gordon King (elder, gave up the life of burglary when he got caught breaking into the police chief's house): 10. He's tiny - all the better to fit through windows in his youth!
Komei Tellerman (married with 2 lumpy-looking kids): 41.
Meadow Thayer (now an adult): 87.
Joe Carr: 189, a beanpole! In my game only Gallagher Newson and Randy London are taller.
Remington Harris: 142, should be able to dust many things without a stepladder.
Kaylynn Langerak: 168, can reach the things Remington can't (Lucy Hanby is much shorter!)

I edited my Height.cfg to reduce the difference between male and female sims (0.98) and am trying different Unique Sim height multiplier values to see if I can get variety without quite so many skewed animations; the current value is 0.0009, down from the standard 0.0011. Animations with objects usually work just fine for everyone, but sims with unusual heights give trouble with things like kissing (nose chomping), back rubs, and especially swinging children around without holding onto their hands at all!

I haven't changed the difference between male and female sims, and I might as it's a bit big for me right now. I don't want to change the multiplier because I made a mod to get the children to grow up as they age, and the current version works well for that, so instead I just restrict my possible adult heights to between 50 and 150, which effectively does the same thing.

I agree, Pebblerocker's picture is great! I also love the idea of Joe Carr being a beanpole and Gordon King being the shortest. Since my opinions on the Pleasantview sims have already been mentioned, I thought of the Bluewater sims. Chester Gieke I see as tall, I think he's probably been so tall for so much of his life that he's started feeling a bit self-conscious about towering over people. Florence De La Rosa is short, and Lisa Ramirez and Wanda Tinker very average heights. Checo Ramirez is shorter than his wife, Stephen Tinker is tall. Denise Jaquet is tall, Gilbert is average but wishes he was taller and constantly tries to seem taller than he is. I think the Larsons are neither remarkaby tall nor short, but they are the same height as eachother and Malcolm Landgraab is shorter than average for a man. Melody Tinker and Tessa Ramirez haven't finished growing yet, so who knows where they will end up?

Ok, but seriously, here's what I think:

-Goth: Mortimer and Alexander are definitely taller than Bella and Cassandra, but Cassandra is also slightly taller than Bella. Bella is probably average height.

-Dreamer: As HarVee already mentioned above, Darren's tall, so Dirk's definitely tall as well. Darren would obviously be taller than Cassandra.

-Pleasant: Daniel, being an athlete, is probably tall, and taller than Mary-Sue, their twins and Kaylynn. Mary-Sue is probably shorter than the twins. Kaylynn could be slightly taller than the twins.

-Broke: Brandy's probably average height. Skip Broke was definitely taller than Brandy. Dustin is definitely taller than Brandy (and probably same height as Dirk Dreamer). Both Dustin and Dirk are taller than Angela and Lilith. Beau could be taller than Brandy, but slightly shorter than Dustin. Unborn Baby Broke could be average.

-Caliente: Dina and Nina are probably of average height (probably same height as Bella).

-Lothario: Tall, probably as tall as Darren Dreamer. Don would obviously be taller than all the women he's involved with.

-Burb: John and Jennifer could be average height, with John being slightly taller than Jennifer. Lucy is average (which makes her shorter than Alexander, assuming they would go on to eventually become a couple). Another option would be that both John and Jennifer are taller, with Jennifer being slightly shorter than both her brother and husband, but still taller than average. In this case, Lucy would also be slightly taller than average, but still shorter than Alexander.

-Oldie: Herb and Coral are also of average height, with Herb being slightly taller than Coral.

-Langerak: I can see Kaylynn being tall/similar in height to Cassandra.

Don is tall.
Because women like tall men and Cassie picked him over Darren. I see Darren as being very average and a bit nerdy.
Bella is tall but he is taller.
Brandy is average
Mary-Sue is short
Daniel is about 6 foot but shorter than Don.

You know, I never really gave much thought to it. As said by others, Daniel Pleasant is an athlete and his father was an astronaut, so he would be very athletic at least, though not all athletes are tall. That said, he's probably reasonably tall, 5 foot 10 perhaps? 6 foot 1? Some have said Mary Sue is Asian, and with that in mind she is probably short. The twins are also likely very athletic and probably average height, like 5 foot 5 or so.

Don and Cassy I also see as being tall. Malcom Landgraab comes from a family of developers (in other words, construction folks), and is probably also tall.

The rest I can't really say., probably average.

I have NEVER thought about sims being short or tall

I don't agree that male athletes have to be tall; depends on the sport - gymnasts are not, neither are a lot of cricket players. Which means men don't have to be tall to be handsome either

Jockeys are almost always short, and there’s advantages for American football players in some positions being short (harder to catch and tackle for one thing). I dunno, but I see Daniel as being an NFL player, probably for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Miami Dolphins, and if he were a quarterback he probably wouldn’t be super tall. A blocker on the other hand…

We live in a Colleen Hoover/Sarah J. Maas world so apparently every man is tall, handsome and athletic/muscular.

@bnefriends - I agree, Daniel looks like he plays Simerican Football, or anything where you'd expect players to be of average height or taller.

I also do NOT make my Sims to be American or any other real world region, they are citizens of the United States of Imagination where SimNation is a state, geographically like Florida but with hills and stuff FL doesn’t have, and Sim City is an informal name for Simasota (because that downtown is definitely not big/populated enough for anywhere near Miami Dade, so more lije Sarasota or even Punta Gorda). Sims and other imaginary characters watch the real workd on TV like we watch them. I feel like the developers probably wanted California vibes (since that is where EA is from) but that salsa music as default screams Miami.

Daniel is in a Sim Logical prison in my game doing a life sentence for what he did to Lily and Angie. (No, he didn’t kill them, but with everything he would have been charged with, especially what he did to Lily, he’d have had more than enough points to get life in Florida, which SimNation is based on. Actually what is did to Lily is capital now but wasn’t in ‘04) So I guess the question is, he might be tall but is he tall and athletic enough to avoid what the other inmates would like to do to people like him? (I’m deliberately not being graphic, if you can’t tell what I’m alluding to just think of actual scandals that have happened with famous people like Daniel IRL, such as P. Diddy Kong and Jeffrey the Giraffe Epstein, which is where the idea cane from).

Often I think of the Athletic carreer sport being more soccer. But different Athletic carreer sims might have different sports.

Maybe as Daniel gets in age hes less Athletic than before?

I can see him becoming a coach for a team later in his career. 🤔

I always think of adult Sims 2 Sims as standing about 30cm (about 1 foot) tall.
