This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Default Is there any way to fix the occasional glitch where a Sim's career data may be reset?
There's the occasional bug in my game where a Sim's career and career history are deleted and the Sim is reassigned a job in the Law Enforcement career as a Snitch. I'm not sure what causes this. But the last time it happened was when I had to reset one of my Sims with NRaas' Master Controller. Because I'd accidentally told her to age up when I had the wrong Sim selected.

My main concern with this is that when I restore the Sim's correct career track and career level, they have to wait at least a day before they can go to work, even if they otherwise would have been able to go to work that day.

Does it always happen after a sim is reset through Master Controller? I've never experienced this, but I also don't use MC's sim reset functionality much.

If it's just after reset, I'd say it sounds like a side effects of the reset... I've recently had some weirdness when using Reset Everything through which I've learned that losing data after "Reset Sim" (and "Reset Everything") is sort of expected. See a somewhat related thread at NRaas forums.

I'm not entirely sure. I just wish there was some way to prevent it from happening. Since it means that when a Sim's correct career data is restored, they generally have to skip a day of work. As Sims can't go to work on the same day they got the job. The same thing happens when a toddler becomes a child or a child becomes a teenager. They can't go to school on the day they aged up.

Do you have Overwatch installed? In it's setting there must be something about resseting careers progress, but I'm not sure if is there is such an option.
Do you have mods that alters careers like Story Progression (I'm not familiar with SP) or perhaps a mod conflict?

I have Overwatch installed, indeed.

The only mods I use extensively are a bunch of NRaas mods and Pescado's AwesomeMod.

It also happened again today which really ticked me off. I ended up having to give the affected Sim a promotion since she definitely would have gotten a promotion later that day, had she not suffered from this glitch.

I've just noticed how the glitch only seems to be targeting Sims in a specific household.

Maybe you have to remove some Nraas mod which potentially have overlapping functionality/conflict with Awesome Mod. I also have big number of Nraas mods and I have to remove some of them.
Register is the other possible conflicting mod.
Other mod I suspect is if you have No Free Promotion to create that glitch.

I have Register but not No Free Promotion. But for some reason, it's only Sims in a specific household that are being affected. It has happened to at least one deceased Sim as well, though as far as I can see, it's not a big deal if it happens to deceased Sims, because they automatically lose their jobs when they die anyway.

My advice here is to remove some of your mods temporarily that you think are conflicting.
Quit the job on the affected sims and then reenable their work progress using "testcheatsenabled true" cheat and shift+ctrl+click on the mailbox to choose the same career level, and see if their progress still resets after removing some mods.

I'd rather not risk removing any mods temporarily at this time. Not any NRaas mods or AwesomeMod at least. Since I don't want to risk anything breaking.

That's all I have to say here, because I've never had this happen to me before:

Quit the job on the affected sims, clean quited jobs via MC, and then reenable their work progress using "testcheatsenabled true" cheat and shift+ctrl+click on the mailbox to choose the same career and level.

In the screenshot you can see my current mods that modify my gameplay system. In Overrides folder I have other mods, that affect the routing system and some other "override" stuff.

I see that you have University Life. Do the affected Sims who have an academic degree have the bug wipe their degree along with job progress?

Neither of those two Sims have degrees. Since it's a low priority to have Sims from other households save up to get a degree. The biggest priorities for Sims from other households is to obtain lifetime rewards such as 'Fast Learner', 'Observant', 'Long Distance Friend', 'Multitasker', 'Entrepreneurial Mindset', 'Immune to Heat', and 'Immune to Cold'. 'Immune to Heat' is usually anywhere from being the first to being the fourth lifetime reward purchased for vampires so they don't complain from being in the sun.

Are there any mods that can 'force' a Sim to go to work on the same day they get a new job? If I could just have a mod that did that, I could put up with this glitch. Since I really need to continue playing my save so that my Sims can progress to a point where I can take more videos of them.

I think that the 'Make Active' option might be the culprit. Because I never had this problem until I started using the 'Make Active' option on Sims from other households, so that I can direct them to build skills to be more successful in life.

I think there is no such mod available.

Make Active interaction is not supposed to create issues, according to me.

Could you provide a list of all your mods that alter the gameplay system (Nraas and other)?

Question 1: Do you have OneDrive on your computer?

Question 2: Do you have the latest version of the mods you're using?

I have the OneDrive application on my PC, yes.

I have NRaas DebugEnabler, Decensor, Dreamer, ErrorTrap, MasterController, MasterControllerCheats, MasterControllerIntegration, Overwatch, Register, Returner, Saver, StoryProgression, Tempest, and Traveller, and AwesomeMod.

Not sure if I have the latest versions. Except that I always get an AwesomeMod notification every time the game loads the startup menu.

It’s a good practice to update your mods regularly when an update is available, because the modder may have fixed some bugs or compatibility issues with other mods.

For AwesomeMod, I’ve read that some NRaas mods can be replaced with it because it has the same built-in functionalities. In my opinion, this could be a problem and cause conflicts or bugs. The page I read about it is this. Although it’s compatible with the listed mods, you never know what might happen, but this is up to you.

About OneDrive, I’ve seen a lot of videos on my social media feed where tech creators describe it as a piece of “malware” that could “wipe off” valuable files and information from your PC, doing so quietly and without your knowledge, and then storing it on Microsoft’s servers without your consent. I’ve also read many reports from Sims players whose save files or related programs were deleted or corrupted after a OneDrive sync or update. Here is MTS thread about corrupted save files after OneDrive sync: https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=694373

I'd rather not have to worry about issues with OneDrive right now. I've got enough issues as is. I've taken a look, and there's almost nothing stored in my OneDrive. Let alone anything Sims related. I've also read up on the AwesomeMod page. And don't see any reasons why my issues would be caused by having AwesomeMod AND multiple NRaas mods.

I asked ChatGPT and it suggested that I shouldn't make those Sims selectable too close to their work hours. As that is likely when the bug will occur. Ever since I've been trying that, the problem hasn't persisted. Though there's something else that I'm also trying. And that's to avoid flushing all the hidden limousines that pile up when switching from household to household. I'm not sure whether that's related to the problem. But I've started to refrain from doing that just in case. And just let NRaas delete them every morning at 5:00 AM.

This is up to you. Since no one other wants to help, I guess ChatGpt will be handy, although you shouldn't trust AI for everything!
