Default Expansion pack selector similar to any game starter or sim game selector?
I have the sims 1 Legacy edition on my PC and i was wondering if there was a program that lets me select specific expansion packs to play with, similar to any game starter for the sims 2 or sim game selector for the sims 3.
thanks

I can't begin to imagine how such a system could be designed for Sims 1 (though I don't want to say it's impossible either).

Unlike Sims 2 and later, Sims Expansion packs overwrite .exe file when you install it. I think it's one of reason no one tried yet?

Yeah, it'd be theoretically possible to have a pool of the other exes... but then you'd run into the problem (assuming that runs. using a wrong exe usually doesn't correctly run the game.) of a lot of objects coded for later versions of the game crash some earlier versions, and some early objects were patched with later expansions in a way that makes them incompatible when they didn't used to be.

Such a system would probably require you to systematically install and make copies of your install folder for each EP combination you want to have (i.e. a lot of work on your end) and then run the copied folders to play the alternate setup... and even then I'm not sure that'd work. You probably couldn't split a combined collection like Complete or Legacy (or even smaller combinations like Deluxe) into their component parts.

Much of the content of expansion packs doesn't need to be used, anyway, unless the player wants to. The Mystery Man will deliver the magic starter kit, but you can delete that, and as long as you don't go to Magic Town, there won't be any Makin' Magic gameplay. Or you can use a nice mod from SomeSimThings that deletes the Mystery Man before he even delivers the box.

Similarly, if you don't take the Fame career and don't go to Studio Town, the only Superstar item you'll see will be the tabloid -- and there's a mod that suppresses newspaper delivery.

If you don't adopt a pet, the only Unleashed gameplay you'll see is the stray dogs and cats, and it's entirely possible to delete the entire Strays family. Presto -- no Unleashed.

If you never go on Vacation, you'll won't see any Vacation gameplay. Don't throw a party, and you won't see any House Party gameplay.

It doesn't seem to me that an Any Game Starter is really all that necessary for The Sims 1.

I've made some mods for The Sims 1 -- yes, The Sims ONE :-) -- which you can find at http://corylea.com/Sims1ModsByCorylea.html

while thats true i was hoping something like this existed bc i like playing my sims games by gradually adding expansion packs as im progressing to see what exactly was added when.
ive noticed that encourages me to engage more with ep content, but since thats not possible (not without simply installing the disks on a computer where that is possible, which i am going to do, i was just hoping i would be able to play on my main pc) im out of luck at least on my modern pc
