Default Help, Maxis fireplaces are replaced by plants
I have a really strange issue with my installed CC, in game all maxis fireplaces are replaced with maxis plants. Removing the downloads folder solves the issue, so it's definitely something with my CC. I tried the 50/50 method, and was able to find one file causing the issue since only having that one in the downloads folder causes it. But the problem is, when I remove that one and put pack the rest of the CC, the issue is there again. So it seems like there are multiple files causing issues. I have scanned for GUID conflicts with object manager, but it didn't find any conflicts.

For context, I'm playing the Deluxe edition from disc, and I have no cc fireplaces installed. Could it be an issue with installed cc that requires an ep I don't have? Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong and how I can solve it? I really don't want to start all over with my CC, I have about 600 files as of now.

How many of your downloaded objects are build mode items, out of curiosity? In specific, are a LOT of them build mode plants? (I don't KNOW that the thing I'm thinking of is your issue so I thought I'd start by asking a fact finding question.)

About 80 files, and most of them are plants. Are you saying that there is a limit to the number of objects you can add in each category?

Fireplaces replaced by plants can be a symptom on early EPs (particularly pre-Unleashed, which Deluxe just barely is--it's base game and LL of course, but it's got a post-Vacation revision of the game engine) of reaching a category limit in build mode, though IIRC even back then how much it took for this kind of issue to crop up was inconsistent from person to person (which is why the link I'm about to provide says it happens to "some people" rather than it being a hard specific thing everyone has an issue with). I kind of wish SimEchoes wasn't one of the only places still up discussing this just so there were more points of reference to try to explain: https://www.simechoes.org/simechoes1/info/limits.html (SimEchoes specifically calls out fireplaces turning into plants as a symptom of too many plants.)

At the very least it was the first thing that popped in my head as causing this kind of thing when it's not a GUID conflict issue--I've never had the issue myself, only heard of it, though, which is why I'm talking in very unsure terms about it.

(The only other "I don't *think* it was GUID related" issue I've ever seen myself is something that isn't relevant here (I transplanted an all-EP install's house that I only used base game objects on into the base game to see how it would behave and basically every object in the house got deleted... but one segment of the stairs turned into a fridge). That's not super relevant here because... uh... you didn't do that. )

You were right, the issue is solved! It seems like my limit is 69 added objects in the plants category, if I go beyond that I get the fireplaces turning into plants bug. I removed a few files and now everything is fine. I had no idea limits like that exists. Thank you so much!

I had no idea about this! It certainly explains something about my game too.
