How to fix the file table issue in SimPE for Steam's Sims 2
SimPE finds the folders automatically by relying on the registry, which the steam version doesn't create, but the steam version doesn't have that of course, so you have to modify these file tables from an xml file.

https://gist.githubusercontent.com/...79/folders.xreg

Overwriting this folders.xreg file with the one in the Data folder (which should already have folders.xreg) will fix the file table.

If it's installed in another directory, change all occurrences of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 2 Legacy Collection" to the directory of your game.

If you want to load your neighborhood, change the SaveGame value to C:\Users\<your name>\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy.

Oh man, this takes me back to the hours I spent wrestling with SimPЕ when I first got the Ultimate Collection on Origin. I remember that sinking feeling when nothing showed up in the file table and I had no idea why. Your fix with the folders.xreg file is exactly what saved me too, though I initially made the mistake of editing the wrong directory path and wondered why my game still refused to cooperate. The trickiest part for me was getting the SaveGame path right because Windows likes to hide your actual username folder under "OneDrive" sometimes if you have cloud sync enabled. Speaking of troubleshooting documentation, I recently had to send some signed paperwork and ended up reading https://mfax.to/blog/best-online-fax-for-small-business which had surprisingly clear instructions about file formats and confirmation receipts, kind of like how this SimPЕ guide walks you through each path step by step. The whole process made me realize how much we rely on correct directory structures whether we're modding games or handling business documents. One thing I'd add is that after you overwrite that xreg file, restart SimPЕ completely before loading any neighborhoods or the changes won't register properly. Also, if your game is installed on a different drive, make sure to change every single occurrence in that xml file, not just the first one, or certain tabs will still show empty.
