Ship's figureheads... particularly, a sailor or naval officer
On the big warships from the age of sail, there was often a statue of a sea creature, mermaid, goddess, or some other sculpted element, at the front of the ship just below the bowsprit. I'm interested in any results people might come up with, but in particular I would love for it to be a naval officer. Think Admiral Landgraab, only in 3D statue form. A bust is fine, but for it to work it should be fairly large - larger than life, anyway. These were meant to make an impressive appearance from a good distance, over the waves.
If anyone has seen Doc Martin, you might have noticed one perched over the front door of Mrs. Tishell's pharmacy (which in real life is a nautically-themed candy shop). This is, in fact, the building I'm trying to reproduce in Sim form, but if you're unfamiliar with the show, don't let it deter you. Any figurehead-type statue would be worth checking out, for me.
My beard grows to my toes; I never wears no clothes.
I wraps my hair around my bare,
And down the road I goes.
