Default Making bed
Hey! I’ve decided that I want to make a bed. The mesh works correctly, but I’m wondering how I can keep the bed frame as my own recolors while leaving the default bedding unchanged. What options should I choose while cloning?

Sure - use the cloning options shown in the image below.
(Most important are the "Create standalone object" option which should be unticked, and "Set custom ID..." which should be ticked. The "change description" is optional as you can otherwise change this in the file at any point after cloning.)

This should correctly repo the bedding to the maxis beds without you needing to do anything more to it.

If you notice there are no textures at all, it's possible the bed frame is already repo'd to another bed - the easiest is to try cloning a different bed. One of the basegame double beds is the "master" bed for bedding.

Make sure to change the (main) GUID for all the OBJDs, or you'll get errors/crashes/issues with the bed.

Not entirely sure what you mean.
The cloning options shown above should repo the bedding but not the bed frame (unless it's already repo'd to something ingame, in which case it's best to choose a different bed to clone. Also, I think at least one of the IKEA beds have some issues, so you may want to choose a different bed in any case. I recommend using a basegame bed).

If you just want one bed frame texture in your mesh file, make sure the "Pull only default color" is ticked. If it doesn't pull the color you wanted (?), you can extract that texture and replace it in your file (find the LIFO file in the game files, or by searching with the "Finder" tool in SimPE).

However, most of the time when making a new bed, it's because you want to change the bed frame mesh and the textures, but keep the maxis bedding, so it wouldn't be as important which recolor it pulls, since you'd change it anyway.

(If you want to recolor an item - as in make new recolors for an existing item, NOT a new mesh), make sure to use the recoloring option in SimPE, NOT cloning. It lets you choose the subsets you want. Poppet has a recoloring tutorial here: https://poppet-sims.tumblr.com/post/54039893647 )
