Default Hunting Down Skin Mesh Compilations
Hi Everyone,

I'm on the hunt for any old sites that may have collated together Skins/Meshes for using when creating your own custom skins and heads.

I've got some guides around extracting existing ones, but I was hoping to see if anyone had already created a basic bundle that can be used?

One reddit post mentions extracting the "skeletons" for use in Blender. Some other posts mention using an existing skin and painting over it.

Looking to simplify the process, and then eventually add the simplified process and potentially bundled meshes onto my community guide site.

Thanks!

People who make meshes tend to be very possessive of them, so I'm not aware of any compilations of a bunch of meshes across sites. Some sites do have meshes by several different creators, though, including the invaluable Sim Freaks, home of many of the best head meshes, and Sim Echoes.

I've made some mods for The Sims 1 -- yes, The Sims ONE :-) -- which you can find at http://corylea.com/Sims1ModsByCorylea.html

Thank you for sharing these!

I'm hoping to try and create my own, but I'm still re-learning the tools and wanted a base to start with, and to be able to reference them on my guide site.

I've seen one really amazing TS2 head conversion on SimblrCC and got inspired to try and do some of my own favourite heads from Sims 2/3/4. Newsflash to me: it's a lot of work!

I've never tried to make a mesh, though I have made a few SIms 1 hacks. But yeah, my understanding is that making a mesh is, indeed, a lot of work.

Jerome was a great body mesh maker back in the day, and he has some advice for would-be mesh makers, here: https://web.archive.org/web/2007111...s/uk_guide1.htm

There's a guide to using Milkshape to make Sims skins at https://web.archive.org/web/2001121..._bodymesh.shtml

Here's a tutorial specifically about faces: https://web.archive.org/web/2002100...etutorial1.html

I've never used any of these, since as I said, I don't make meshes. But when I come across tutorials about it, I save the link so as to point people to it. Because I'm weird and obsessive. :-)

You are AMAZING! This is exactly the info I was hunting for.

Thanks so much for saving all of those links - it helps out people like me who struggle to find stuff while trawling through Wayback.

Going to have a play and see how I go. I joined the SimFreaks Discord and have been speaking to DamonDamore about some other mod projects. Will see what I come up with!
