Default Cage Door Mesh
My door is being a PITA. The part that swings open is at exactly the same position in Milkshape as the part behind it, but in game it looks like this.

They're set to different joints, because otherwise the back piece swings open as well.

Does anyone know how to fix it? The door was fine until I added the moving joint.

Is there maybe a translation in the cres for the joint? I haven't tried to make a wormrat yet, but I find that the cres is usually what needs fixing if I have positioning problems.

Yeah, there was. Now it fits against the glass and only has a gap when open. Not sure how to fix that.

Likely having to do with a slight shift in the door placement compared to the joint. Both the door and the hole usually need to be in the middle of the joint when closed, so the door swings open at the pivot point of the joint (middle of "+"). Make sure you've zoomed in enough (mark 2 overlapping vertices, do "frame selection", and continue until you can't get it to zoom in more).

If that still doesn't work, can you upload the (package) file?

Okay. Moving the hinge moved the whole door off. Even when it was closed.

If anyone could help then I'd be grateful. If you open it in Milkshape it won't sit flush against the glass because I had to move it slightly so it was flush in game, after more CRES tweaks weren't really doing anything.

Just to rule out a possible problem - have you done anything to joint 0, 1 or 2? (Edited Cres, moved them, etc.)
The joints are in relation to each other, so if you edit one further down the hierarchy, you're also editing the ones further up. I can't see any obvious changes, but just asking to be sure.

The door looks fine in Milkshape, maybe sightly off, but not as much as in your pictures. Possibly a missed step from moving the Joint 3 Cres, or not updating in SimPE (the "rebuild" step is easily missed).

Have you looked at PF's tutorials?

https://pforestsims.tumblr.com/post...-sinks-tutorial (shows sinks, but it's also for moving joints in general)

Only joints I've moved are 4 (front door) and 6 (food bowl).

It does look fine in Milkshape. It's in game that it changes (only when the door is open).

I didn't know you had to do anything in SimPE.

I haven't seen the tutorials either, thanks. I'll take a look at them.

Moving the door hinge made it fit fine when opened, but when closed it now sticks out.

Unfortunately the tutorials don't say how to just alter a joint when it's engaged.
