Default Adult hospitality/service career (or a career-writing manual)
I've seen "waiter" careers out there, but they're for teens/seniors, not adults, and I know many adults in real life who've been waiters or restaurant hosts their entire lives. I do have the bartending career, although I think the levels are a little strange. I suppose I could potentially start creating my own careers. I enjoy writing, so the only issue would be that I'm a Mac user, and packaging them could be a bit complex - I'd have to collaborate with a Windows simmer for that. Is there a guide to career creation somewhere?

I'm marking this as solved, even though it's not. But I think it's down to me to solve this particular conglomeration of issues. As always, thanks for lending an ear.

OFB kind of covered the restaurant career. Run your own restaurant or get hired by one.

Even though I don't have OFB (okay, technically I own it, but my OS isn't compatible ), I do have a home restaurant modeled on the one in the British series Pie In The Sky. I use the Simlogical Pay Buffet, and then also, whenever the chef doesn't have policing duties (as in the TV show), I have him serve group meals to the many guests who show up, via the auto-teleporter shrub. Besides the Crabbes, who live above their restaurant, I also created the other characters from the series, and I just wanted to be able to have them go off to their "industry" jobs, even though they couldn't actually work at said restaurant.

Thanks for that! Even if I don't download any of those (yeah, right - who am I kidding?) it's entertaining to see what people have come up with. Everything there from midwifery to Pokemon Service Worker, whatever the heck that is. Having a hard time wrapping my head around what a "Monty Python" career would entail. Would the bottom rung be a Gumby, or an Upper Class Twit Olympian? Maybe the Undertakers who take turns carrying each other around in the coffin.

Reasonably sure most computers (Windows OS at least XP and up, I'd think Linux too?) are compatible up to M&G. Unless you still have one that's old enough to have seen the original dawn of the TS2 era, or it's the kind of "student quality" that goes straight to jet engine mode if you write a document or watch a Youtube movie.

The Mac version of the game only has compatibility up to and including Bon Voyage - no idea about the different Mac versions, though...

Well, I do, but it has an older OS - I bought it from a buddy of mine. I could potentially upgrade the system, but I have to do some research on how far I can go, and still keep my precious non-cloud-based Photoshop working. I would like to get into Sim career building, though - I think it'd be fun.

And, really, the real issue is that although my OS is ancient, it's actually too NEW to communicate with the OFB installer. I purchased the OFB disc as an afterthought, years after I had started playing Seasons, so that might have something to do with it. Anyhow, if I were to acquire a newer "collection" that I could actually install that included OFB, I might have to upgrade my OS for that, and I'd just want to make sure that didn't screw up my Photoshop situation.

Talk about your first-world problems, eh?

I'm still running Photoshop cloud-free, just so that's said (older version, refuse to get rid of it. Same with a few other programs). There are plenty of other options too (plus, some of the non-Photoshop versions are getting pretty good).

There is a bit more freedom with Windows (and Linux, I assume), even though Windows only seems to get worse with each version.
