Sims 2 Legacy Collection - What Should I Look For When Downloading CC?
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased The Sims 2 Legacy Collection and have been slowly getting back into Sims 2 after many years away from the game.
I successfully installed a few things, including SimCutie's Power Espresso machine, and those worked perfectly. However, on June 25th I downloaded a variety of content from different sources, including Sims 2 Store items, preorder bonus items, furniture, cars, clothing, hair, makeup, and a few miscellaneous downloads.
The game loaded normally and CAS worked fine. However, when I entered Buy Mode and clicked on certain categories (chairs were one example), the game immediately crashed to desktop. I removed recently added content and tested several times, but could not identify the exact cause. Eventually I removed my entire Downloads folder to get the game working again.
I am fairly new to the Legacy Collection and would appreciate some guidance from experienced Sims 2 players.
When downloading content for The Sims 2 Legacy Collection, what should I be looking for?
For example:
* Should I pay attention to upload dates?
* Are there creators or sites that are considered safer or more reliable?
* Are older downloads generally safe, or should they be tested carefully?
* Are there known problem categories (cars, furniture, pr-eorder content, store content, etc.)?
* Is there a recommended process for testing CC before adding large amounts at once?
One example of content I am currently testing is the L.S Baliwood Recolours set from Mod The Sims. I'm starting by testing one collection at a time before adding anything else to my game.
I played Sims 2 as a child and only used a small amount of CC back then, mostly from The Sims Resource plus a few well-known mods. With so much content available now, I'm trying to learn the best practices for downloading and organizing CC in the Legacy Collection without causing crashes.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
