Default Appaloosa Plains Distant Terrain
Hi ya'll, I've never done this before and only created an account because of this so please be gentle lol

So I've been playing around with CAW for some time now and have recently been gripped by the absolute hyperfixated need to create a world in the Appaloosa Plains style. I also would like to use the AP Distant Terrain for that, but for some reason, I haven't been able to find it download-able anywhere. It doesn't naturally show up in my CAW either, although I do have the expansion pack. Is there any way of fixing that or does anybody have a quick download for me?

I have found many other great DTs and basically all other EA-world ones for download, but this is driving me nuts.

The simplest way would be to clone the DT in S3OC (it's under Normal Objects and named terrainDistantEP5), which you'll need to do anyway if you want to customise it in any way. You can drop the resulting package into the CAW Mods folder.

If you're missing other expansion decor in CAW, it may be worth looking into threads on that topic just so it doesn't continue to restrict you. Search engines are failing me today, so hopefully some CAW users can provide links or advice on that.

The object name might be localized if your game is not installed in English which makes it harder to find.

The CAW files for Appaloosa Plains are available at Cawster: https://cawster.wordpress.com/2013/...paloosa-plains/ While they may not include a cloned version of the DT, the DT will show up when you open the files in CAW.

Same if you chose to take the original world file from your installation folder and turn it into a CAW world again using this method: https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=469942

Both ways have the advantage that the DT is already perfectly aligned to the edges of the world. You can then go ahead and edit the terrain to your liking.

Then you could use SuperCAW. You will find it if you search for terrainDistantEP5 in the metadata window.

If you only want to recolour it, there is no need to clone it and make it an additional package. Simply extract the texture and add the edit to the world file, thus making it a default replacement for this specific world (not Appaloosa Plains in general).

The only reason why you would need to have it as an extra package is if you wanted to edit the mesh or if you wanted to make it Base Game compatible to remove the dependency on the Pets EP.

Thank you both a lot, I have it now. The object names did go a bit crazy, but I found it eventually. Recoloring and never mind editing or creating terrain myself are things I'll leave for future projects, my little brain and laptop can only handle so much at a time.

Cheers!
