Default Three more (Photography-related) objects that should be Community-lot enabled
Not to hog all the space in the help forum, but:

Since the conversion of Boblishman's office/school wall clock (from residential-enabled only to buyable anywhere) went so well, allow me to propose another few objects that ought to be buyable for community lots, but aren't for some reason. They all have to do with photography.

1. In my Hawkins, Indiana hood, the middle school's gym is decorated for the famous Snow Ball (from Stranger Things 2). This includes one of four seasonal photography backdrops from Honeywell , that are supposed to come with a "nifty trunk", allowing the portrait-posers to quickly change into whichever outfit they have access to. The four backdrops (plus associated props) are available anywhere as Deco/Misc.; the trunk is supposed to show up under Misc/Dressers, but only does so on residential lots. I find this weird, because really - who is going to own a photography backdrop, let alone four, that they keep at their house? (There is no camera included in the download; the user is supposed to just take a screenshot or use the in-game camera feature). So that's one: Honeywell's trunk.

2. However, Targa came out with a nice antique bellows camera that has some really cool pose and shoot options, which came with its own pair of backdrops. The backdrops apparently have some issues with EPs Seasons and beyond, but that's not a problem because I can use Honeywell's backdrops. Or, no backdrop at all... the camera is really the key part of the download, and unfortunately, it does not appear on Community lots either (should be under Hobbies/Misc). Since the photo produced (an actual object like with the photobooth) can be sold by the Sims, it would really make more sense to have it available on comm lots (and probably home businesses under OFB as well). I know that Sims regularly sell things like paintings and picked garden produce from their home lots, but the option to have it on a comm lot would be desirable. That's two: Targa's camera.

3. Finally, the camera download was sort of "paired" with a set of photo studio lamps uploaded by Numenor . This included four lamps created by someone else, plus an umbrella-shaped one by Numenor, which has additional functions besides just providing light. The four others show up on both kinds of lots, under Lighting/Misc.; Numenor's is only available in the Residential catalog. That's three: Numenor's Umbrella Reflector Lamp. --> DONE! Thanks, AnMal!

Seems reasonable, no? While my family may have had these things around the home when I was growing up... my dad was a professional photographer. The average person (and therefore Sim) would be more likely to encounter such things outside the home, i.e. on a Comm lot.

If this really should be in some other forum (some sort of creator challenge, or whatever) please, the mods should feel free to re-locate it. I hope I don't come off as whiny - these are just things that occur to me when I should probably be in bed asleep.

A small edit for purposes of clarity... Targa's camera, as it turns out, is a little glitchy; I hadn't fully explored the way it works before posting this. The model Sim will stand in whichever of the poses you choose from the camera's pie menu, but they won't do it in front of the camera, unless you have them go there first. This is just as well, since when the photographer Sim moves in to take the picture, a green frame will pop up on the screen; you must then maneuver the game's POV camera so that the frame is seeing what you wish to capture. After the picture is snapped, the photo will pop out the side of the camera like a Polaroid, but then the only option is to sell the photo (for a measly §1). You can't put it on the wall, which is a shame, but that's a whole different problem. The real problem is that the posing Sim tends to get stuck, unable to proceed with their life unless the camera is deleted. But again, that's an issue on its own; I'd just like it to be buyable in the community catalog.

I wish I could help you, but I've been away from the modding scene for too long.
I hope that some good-willing active modder will undertake the required modifications (that should be easy, if I remember well), because I agree that all these objects should be usable in community lots. I don't even know why I didn't modify my lamps in the first place.
Happy simming everyone! 😉

I've finally started my Journal. Information only, no questions.

My latest activity: CEP 9.2.0! - AnyGameStarter 2.1.1 (UPD) - Scriptorium v.2.2f - Photo & Plaques hide with walls - Magazine Rack (UPD) - Animated Windows Hack (UPD) - Custom Instrument Hack (UPD) - Drivable Cars Without Nightlife (UPD) - Courtesy Lights (FIX) - Custom Fence-Arches - Painting-TV - Smarter Lights (UPD)

I *DON'T* accept requests, sorry.

I have set the studio lights for avaiability in community lots, and tested them. Works fine in my game. Chitownriverscum, would you mind testing this file in your game?

Hey, good to hear from you, my old business-sign-altering partner in crime! Yes, the lamp now shows up in the lighting department on Comm lots. Thanks for that, I appreciate it!

I'd just like to post a reminder that Help is not a request forum.

While I understand you are in a tough spot with an older version of Mac OS and unable to use the latest SimPE, Help is not for requesting things to be fixed/edited. Please do post if you have objects that do not work, and you can get feedback about how to fix it. But asking (or suggesting) for things is going to fall under requests.
