Default Gardening glitch
Hello hello !

Does anyone knows why my crops disappear when I water them soon after I planted them ?

It's a glitch that occurs only when I try to grow old town veggies and magic town berries on the same lot.

I go buy them in old town, I can plant them but as soon as I water them the plots empties themselves (I can plant crops again and they're not "back" in my inventory (went from 5 to 4 for veggies and 1 to none for berries)). If I just plant veggies it doesn't happen and same for berries.

I think I heard a slight "ting" sound and one of the sims does a surprised " Oh!" sound when the crops goes poof.

Any idea or experience ?

Thanks a lot (lol) !

Old Town veggies can only be planted in an Insta-Plot Victory Garden plot, whereas Magic Town berries can only be planted in a As the Plot Thickens plot. Are you sure you're planting the various seeds in the right plot for the type of plant?

I've made some mods for The Sims 1 -- yes, The Sims ONE :-) -- which you can find at http://corylea.com/Sims1ModsByCorylea.html

Hi ! I was unsure so I checked and no I didn't mess up this, in fact the game won't allow me to plant veggies in the berries plots and vice versa.

I do have a few mods that alters gardening like the farm worker from something sims, gardening for kids by Shaklin, and Tahera's plots to grow pumpkins but couldn't find any relevant topics about them altering the vanilla plots or even conflicting with them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On another note I hope you're well and would like to thank you for all the great mods you've made for this game !

I tried planting both regular veggies and berries, and nothing disappeared; they both worked fine. Are you playing The Complete Collection or Legacy? I tested in TCC, so if that's the version you're playing, I think it's likely that one of the mods is at fault. If you're playing Legacy, let me know, and I'll go test in that, too.

Thanks! I've been in and out of the hospital a couple of times in the past few months, but I'm getting better. And I'm glad you're enjoying my mods!

I thought it was the Legacy (given it is the 25th anniversary one ?) because I bought the pack with the sims 2, but my launcher says the complete collection, and I don't have to launch EA app to play like for sims 4, so it has to be the CC one.

Guess I have to find and try them one by one. I'll come back here and post my results when it's done then !

If it helps you to be sure which you have: if you have the option in the game's settings screen to change the resolution and/or whether the game is windowed/fullscreen/etc while the game is still running, then it's Legacy and not Complete. (But they're the same in terms of content and such, essentially. The engine itself just sometimes behaves differently.)

(Legacy has other changes from Complete, too, like widescreen support and a modified splash (it doesn't say "The Sims Complete Collection" on the logo scren, just "The Sims")... BUT Complete could be modified to be widescreen or have a different splash manually (using third-party patchers or manually changing files yourself). The resolution on the other hand is a surefire way to tell that it's Legacy, because Complete disallows changing resolution or windowed/fullscreen state while the game is running; it has to be done on startup.)

Thanks, didn't know that, for sure it is the CC because I have to use some side software to have it in a resolution that fits my screen and sadly it makes me loose a bit of zoom :'(

But let's talk about my bug !
I tried several times to plant seeds in different plots and it failed everytime I'd try to water my crops even on maxis plots.
So i decided to test the kinder plots on a household with kids and it worked fine. I decided to see it as a non problematic mod.
Then I went into the apple farmer family, who has a kid and a dog, and an advanced garden with maxis plots berries and veggies and everything went just fine there too.
Back to my problematic household the bug was still here, so 2 options left : the lot is corrupted or the sims ? I moved them on an empty lot, planted crops aaaand... no problems !

The problem was the lot but what item would do that how do I know ? Also by moving the sims it sold all the stuff inside the house, chance I had a copy of the furnitured house and put it back in the hood, moved the sims in it again, bought a Tahera plot, planted a crop aaaand... Yay for me bug is gone !

The only thing I decided not to keep on the lot was trees with snacks interactions from Russian vacation sims. I bet it was one or several or even all of them the problem. I'll monitor things a bit more and try the trees elsewhere and see how it goes. Then come back here to confirm if they were culprits or not.

Hello !

I haven't been able to reproduce the bug on another lot. So either it wasn't the trees or there was a third item involved but then what could it be ? Everything (but an outside toilet and the global mod for the farm worker) was just deco (flowers and fake grass) so nothing should conflict. Maybe the sims finally ? Maybe evicting them reset something ? I also haven't been visited by the mystery man the 4 times I moved them (first to do rosebud, second in their home, third on an empty lot to make tests then back to their home) I only have one mod for him, it's super box with 1500 coins. Will check if he appears with another family.

Till then o/ ~

Finally got my things sorted. The mystery man box was a kinda me problem, he needs an actual house to deliver it's package, so no room with a door, no mystery man.

There was other problems with the lot than the gardening, like sims won't stop watching T.V until fun bar is full, even if I cancel the action.
It's a downloaded lot, important point I forgot to consider. A diorama to be precise. It comes with pics and a list of things to download if wanted.
I had a lot of problems with another one and that's when I realised my mistake.

I don't have enough knowledge to find out what was the culprit but I know for sure that everything has been solved when I evicted the sims and moved them in again, AFTER putting the house - MY safe save version of it, with only the stuff I wanted in it - again in the hood.

The problems with the other one are pain in the a**, it is a vacation lot, and I would like it to be in the classic hood, but no pedestrian portal, no mailbox and no trashcan which is to much annoyance for me. Been able to find replacement portals, replacement trashcan and mail box but this one doesn't show at all in buy mode, and in the end the game will still see it as a vacation lot and act weird I guess... Just gonna make it from scratch with the helps of the pics.

Thanks again for the help, stay safe, life is crazy and rude right now !

It sounds like the garden plots are erroring and resetting. I don't know why that would happen, though.

You can try using the prepare_lot cheat to see if it clears up any weirdness. Sometimes it works, sometimes it won't but it's easy enough that it's worth a shot!

Bit late to the party but maybe this will help someone else in the future.
