Default Performance and compatibility
I feel a bit overwhelmed and could use some advice. I'm looking for ways to optimize Sims 3. I have some of the mods of the NRaas suit, such as Master Controller, Overwatch, Error Trap, Debug Enabler, Register, Saver, Traffic and Tempest. But I also have Simmler90's Gameplay mod. I've heard there are some incompatibilities between the two and I've looked into how to fix that. I changed the alarm time and disabled the options for recovering sims, turning off electronics and cleaning up genealogy in Overwatch.
Are there more things I need to change?

Secondly, I found this Steam guide for optimizing the game. Now, I've used it before, back in 2024. But it has gotten an update recently which makes me a bit lost. The steps I took back then is missing now. It also only work for the 1.67 steam version, which I don't use (I use the EAapp 1.69 update). Is there any guide for 1.69 I can follow? I already got the Smooth Patch from Lazy Duchess and uses her patched launcher which supports .asi I also got the graphics rule changer from Nexus and did the suggested settings in NVidia control panel.
Are there other steps I should take? Or is there a guide for 1.69?

Simler conflicts with Nraas. They both do the same things, modifying the same things.

As LadySmoks say you should really remove simler90's mod when you have NRaas mods. NRaas and Gameplay Core Mod both modify the gameplay and the in serious conflict. But if you find simler90's mod more suitable for you, than remove NRaas.

The performance guide in Steam is not very accurate and you must be careful what you do, but it has some really nice advices like the GPU mod from Nexus. Other recommended mods are DVXK and Setting Settler.

Not what I had hoped to hear. I have heard they're incompatible but I thought it was manageable. I mean, I've used both for a long time and the game hasn't had any issues for me. I don't really wanna get rid of either. Simler fixes so many bugs, but I can't imagine playing without MasterController, ErrorTrap, Saver, Tempest, Traffic or Overwatch either.

Do I have to remove all Nraas stuff or could I keep some? Is just all of NRaas mods incompatible, even Master Controller?

Would DVXK and Setting Settler work on 1.69? The guide claimed only "mods" could be used, while those are programs. Also won't these new mods cause issues with my patched launcher? Or do I have to reinstall to use them?

When dealing with known conflicting mods, it's a matter of what YOU want, and how much you're willing to deal with.

My example is that I use KW and A LOT of Nraas Mods. There are conflicts. Nraas doesn't want to deal with issues that may be KW conflict related, and same goes for KW creators since Oniki began that mod. Over time, I've tweaked my Nraas settings, and managed a less confrontary blending, but still get the ocassional CTD and freeze up... which honestly could bbe something else, like the massive number of CC I have.

I understand. I removed the NRaas mods that deals with performance (ErrorTrap, Overwatch), kept Master Controller and some smaller mods that I don't think should affect the Core too much. I'll try it and see if any issues arise. I might revisit them if things start to stutter.

I appreciate the help. If someone knows what tweaks I could do to alleviate the conflicts, I'd be all ears.
For now I'll see how it goes. I like the bugfixes offered by Simler90 so I'm not too keen on removing it.

Personally can't tell for sure if they are fully compatible with 1.69. I believe that there is no difference between the two in matter of compatability, in case the installation framework is similar to the retail version (1.67), but it's better to consult with someone who knows better.

Well Setting Settler is useable from inside the game, so I guess it works? Here's to hoping.

yes, it will works, by the press "inser" hotkey touch on the right top corner of your keyboard...About Nraas X Simler, the reals conflicts mod are Nraas StoryProgression and Overwatch. If I were u, DEFINETELY get that NRAAS story progression GONE forever. That module is worst thing for performance, so laggy as fuck. And Overwatch is no needed anymore if u use Simler90 mod, cause both they do exactly the SAME thing, but Simler is better. BUT problem is.... Overwatch manage the Import/Export Settings of OTHER Nraas modules mods , like Retuner settings, etc. etc AND that point where NRAAS overwatch win, is that Instant immediate feature, for cleaning any stuffs right now , whereas Simmler mod have no that function...When I said Simler won, is for the fix to bring back kids pets at home, unlike overwatch, were u have to manually click to instant immediate from menu if the occurs persist. Thats explained from the steam guide u can keep both, overwatch and simler, but u have to edit the xml from simler mod to make them Suitable .

I tried NRaas SP once... I got annoyed at all the notifications. I removed it and haven’t used it since.

I have no idea how to edit the XML files for Simler. I think I've only used Sim3PE once, to edit the patch level for a mod causing issues. I wouldn't know where to start without some guide on how to edit XMLs.

Double Click on Simler mod (it will open with S3PE, and pop up an error message but just ignore it, continue) , see the only XML tab ? "simler90Extras.Tuning Extras" ----XML----
Right click on it > Notepad (way bottom yay) > (it will bring u in Notepad) , Are you still with me ? Okayy , Please Press "ctrl" and "F" , u will see a Search bar appear, Woww so magic.. Now in Search Bar, type it "<MaintenanceTurnOffElectronics" ( by type it, I mean highlight it , and press ctrl + C , and on Search bar , and do Ctrl +V ) , Still here ? Okay next to "<MaintenanceTurnOffElectronics" you will see "True" , just replace it by "False" ... and now go on left topp corner, Click on File > Save and close the Notepad window, And still on S3PE , click on File > Save , YES SAVE , and close it and Bye me a coffee

Removing ErrorTrap will have you worse off than using it in combination with Simler's mod, as the latter (as far as I know) does nothing about EA's lack of junk data cleanup and error handling. If you're going to compromise, that isn't an area I'd recommend doing so.

As LadySmoks said, it's largely a manner of the combination being unsupported than outright broken. You can use them together, at your own risk, if you must. But I'd be curious which bug fixes you're desperate for from the core mod - quite often, it's just that users don't know what fixes are already covered by NRaas or a standalone mod elsewhere. There is only a single minor bug I've personally encountered that only has a fix in the core mod, but I know it will certainly vary from setup to setup.

Simler's mod changes things at the core level, NRaas mods (and all other script mods) expect the core to be vanilla. For mods with small scope, this can be easier to troubleshoot. For NRaas, it is too much of a wild goose chase for us to provide support. The creator has never showed interest in supporting it from their end or collaborating either, so unfortunately it is left at that.

We still have users that use them in combination, in separate saves where they can afford to troubleshoot any issues they encounter.

I personally would not recommend the Steam guide, it's somewhat infamous as a source of misinformation.

Here's a great rundown by our developer on the newer performance options, as LD's Smooth Patch has been deprecated and a few new things are on the scene:
https://www.nraas.net/community/post113985#p113985
I'd recommend simply following the individual instructions of each of these tools, rather than one master guide.
We do have a 'Quick Start' guide for the basics, but it doesn't dive into anything that's optional rather than essential for the game to run well.

Those r just true facts, Simler mod has same fix than nraas and I have no time to debate with you since the OP want keep Simler mod, in this case I bring the way to go to make them compatible. about the steam guide, the poster keep regulary the guide updated. DXVK (pointed from his steps) as exemple its still a good thing to go for performance, and yes , some nraas module like SP makes game laggy, or crash like cupcake

Overwatch's settings alone offer numerous maintenance routines that aren't included in the core mod, and OW does much more than what's offered in its settings. Many of the correction processes provided by NRaas mods are out of the scope of the core mod, so it cannot and is not intended to replace them.

Admittedly, I don't know enough about the bug fixes Simler actually offers to give a through answer. That said, the reason I got Simler90 in the first place was because it fixes the Fireman career. No other mod I found did. Before adding Simler90's mod the callouts bugged out and my Sim couldn't participate in them. With Simler, he was able to head out and stop fires, which is a big part of that career. I did disable some of the overlap between Overwatch and Simler such as electronics shut down and clean-up time aswell.

I never had much issues with the setup tbh (tho Isla Paradise still remains as laggy with either option. Same with Hidden Springs. Not sure any performance mods can fix those worlds) I'd grab some mod that fixes the houseboats autonomy and I'm not sure, but I think Simler adds some bugfix too).

Though I did encounter an issue where Sims routed to a bad spot and got stuck. At the time I had the remove stuck sims option disabled as I tried to run a prison (the stuck fix does have the unfortunate sideeffect of reseting Sims when they can't route out of their locked cells). There was a lot of Sims stacked I had to manually reset. Ended up reenabling the stuck fix and also fix the fence in that area where they got stuck. Though I had to compromise and just pretend the sims were locked in, when the door was in fact not locked.

Jericho had some issues were Sims got stuck in their apartments and some aging check failures. But I think those are more or less quirks of that world being huge.

Click on the target Sim or a computer, go to NRaas > MasterController > Advanced > Change Autonomy, and disable free will for that individual.

Also sorry for offensive post towards Nraas, each mod has their own advantage and inconveniant. Nraas is still best for MasterController, Relativity and Retuner, about performance, tuning with Retuner some routine may greatly helps for a smoother game, and have a mod folder well organized, with merged mod.

That's actually the exact same fix that I was referencing, so that's totally fair!
I'd love to see a script-mod fix for this eventually. I believe it has to do with fires trying to spawn on foundations and only succeeding on rooms without them - for houses that don't have any rooms like that, the job fails.
I hope things will play nicely in your game while you're in need of that fix.

Outside of that issue, most bugs are squashed by NRaas (if something isn't fixed broadly by ErrorTrap or Overwatch, it's usually fixed by the mod that covers the system it's related to- for example, if a sims dream/wish manager is bugging out it is usually fixed by installing Dreamer, so on) and a few other handy mods and tunings. I don't generally see many bugs in my own game, and when I do it's typically something niche. We have a neat assortment of developers that hang out on the site that tend to jump to some creative solutions for those It takes a village to fix something made by EA, or however the saying goes.
