This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default CEP isn't working correctly, despite placing everything in the correct files and folders
Yesterday I discovered that the recolours for the guitars and exercise machines that come with the Ultimate Collection aren't displaying in-game. And have probably been like that ever since I was forced to uninstall and reinstall The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection at the beginning of last year. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've already tried following these instructions. However, when I followed each step correctly, I discovered that everything is apparently in the correct spot. I need this issue to be resolved before I go back to my master saves. Otherwise these recolours will be lost and reverted to the defaults the next time I load the lots that use them.

Weirdly enough, the recolours for the letterbox are displaying correctly, despite facing the same issue prior to installing Ultimate Collection. In fact, I wasn't even aware they and the recolours for the guitars and exercise machines even existed until 2024.

If it helps to identify the problem, I've just discovered that the concrete terrain (and possibly the dirt terrain, though I have yet to check) isn't showing up properly in neighbourhood view.

For guitars, it's possible you have to use the Design tool to change the recolor, after placing the guitar. It's mentioned in the comments of the recolors seen here:
https://modthesims.info/d/574347/mu...-recolours.html

For the CEP, there are extra instructions for the UC at the top (mostly where to put the files) - make sure you've got the correct files in Downloads and in the install location. The one in Downloads might need to be directly in the Downloads folder (no subfolder).

No idea about the exercise machines, though. If you're having issues with both those and terrain, it's possible you've got an installation issue. What, eactly, is going on with the terrain, and do you currently have defaults/mods that edit the terrain?

I already tried that. The design tool isn't helping anymore. Only the default colours are appearing.

I already tried those CEP instructions. And I already have everything in the right files and folders.

I don't have mods that edit the terrain. Also the exercise machine colours were automatically reverted back to the defaults upon loading a household that until recently used recolours.

Did you try repairing the game through Origin?

It is loading custom content.

I should also point out that I used The Sims 2 Starter Pack to install everything. Since the Windows 10 PC I'm on wouldn't let me install anything aside from the base game any other way.

Edit:

I was able to get the neighbourhood terrain fixed using this tip, though I needed to be tipped off about it.

Turns out the guitar colours weren't broken and I was just trying to recolour the wrong part of the guitar.

The Exerto 5000 Multipress Exercise Machine colours haven't been recovered though. The recolour that I used was identical to the default but without any numbers on it. I have to get it back otherwise I can't go back to my master saves.

Not sure which exercise machine you are having issues with, but they are color enabled with the CEP. There are no recolors that shipped with the game since they were not recolorable. Maybe show pictures of where you have each of the CEP files installed?

I don't need to do that since I've already verified that they are in the correct location. Also what I'm seeing in the potty chair on the left is consistent with how it appears for me in-game.

Apparently what I'm after can be found on this page .

Open the EA App and look at your options under Sims 2. There should be a repair option.

It's a thread on 'Decustomized and Updated Maxis Official Objects/Clothing' by Lord Darcy.
