As per the title, so many people keep downloading outdated mods like Max Out Skills Milestones and Lifetime Aspirations simply because they're shown as Picked and Featured respectively, which suggests they're "must have" mods.

The fact that there are updated alternatives mentioned in the comments isn't enough, they should either get their description changed to JUST show the updated link (which would require someone to keep checking if it's updated), or the better solution would be to simply remove any mod page from the Picked and Featured lists that's from inactive authors.

It is not allowed for a creator to use their download here for advertising content elsewhere, if we find a creator who linking off site the content will be removed. The responsibility is on the downloader to ensure what they are downloading is compatible with their current game, which means checking comments as well.

All content is owned by the creators. If they choose to stop updating, or updating on MTS that is up to them, we will not be removing the content for being outdated. We will not remove their picked/featured status or edit their uploads.

The front page content is all automated based on likes/downloads.

I wonder if it would be possible to have a 'gameversion' field in the upload requirements for Sims 4, where the creator could add details of the gameversion that the mod was created for? That might help people to make a choice about whether to download or not.

It's a tricky situation for games which are still being updated by the publisher, we had the same issue for Sims 2 and Sims 3 too, where a mod was rendered unsuitable by a game patch. Of course, the difference with Sims 4 is that the player does not have a choice in patching- it is forced upon them.

We used to ask for game version on uploads, but we removed it as part of trying to scale back requirements as people (always) complain about when uploading we ask for too many things being required. So we opted to make that optional and up to the uploader on whether to list.
