Default As we all may know it, The Sims franchise is at the brink of extinction…
Not sure how to put feelings into words (while I still can with low battery power during work break lol), but I got this feeling that very soon we may see the mobil-izatiom (by that, I mean monetization and app-like transition to android/ios market transitioning, not war drafts lol) of The Sims games, since EA refuses (or shall I say, incompetent even) to create a proper sequel. And as years go by, things to seem getting worse and worse (buyout being the most shocking news for most of the demography).

Project X and other lame project that hardly anybody cares about from consumer perspective, finished production of dlc packs, debt and other factora - it leads me to believe soon there will be nothing for the PC players to have and play, as such games may see sooner expiration/cancellation. The next generation may not even know of what importance (there’s a better word, but my second language forget it) The Sims Franchise had brought into the history of gaming.

But that’s my ‘fortunate teller/premonition”, but what do you guys think?

P.S. This isn’t an hate thread or anything of particular. Just wanted to get it out of my gut and share my realistic thoughts that I think even diehard fans are afraid to admit that there’s good coming after this reincarnation forward.

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

I can't imagine I'm alone in my particular thinking, but long before the buyout was even a thing, I'd come to the understanding that I would never get involved with another product made by modern Maxis. They are just hopeless, incompetent, incapable of getting things better organized in 12 frikken years, and have long since turned the franchise into something very different from its original ethos, and with EA nickle and dimming every step along the way, even if Maxis were anywhere near good, they - the franchise - still would not have stood a chance.

This is not going to get better. Only worse.

For me the buyout was just another nail in a already well-sealed, airtight coffin. The only hope is another producer and game dev studio.

I don't think that TS will die because of the reception of the buyout, as I previously thought. TS will die as a consequence of the buyout. That makes me sad only in the terms of how the franchise will end. I can still play the games, only if EA decides to pull everything which does not make sense, but it is kind of possible (both at the same time).

There are talks already of merging EA with Savvy games, and all because of the debt that EA has put themselves into. I don't know what will happen in the future, but Maxis might lose even more of its creative control and they might be forced to restrain the new features. That means we might get something worse than TS4 basegame.

Not to mention that a lot of EA employees will be laid off to pay off the debt which means even less people working on new sims projects. However, I don't really care about TS' new projects being in danger. EA has lost me with this buyout. I am not trying to brag, but people who resent EA for the buyout are not the majority.

I feel like it’s a fact we will get a downgrade after TS4 howeveri you put it (it just doesn’t make sense for me based on production history side that would have suggest it otherwise), but aside that I don’t see anything showing that we are heading in the direction that EA would give us a worthwhile PC game. Ever since console ports that were released as PC replicates, it was pretty evident that EA wasn’t interested in spin-off or any other remake titles (Medieval, CastawY etc), and most importance and focus were diverted into their own indepented projects like The Sims Mobile and the pre-going FreePlay. Project Renee is exactly a mobile game, while TS4.5 is just an open world Sims 4 that I’m certain will suck even more ass than the TS3’s Open World. However, that wouldn’t be my concern…

What I’m worried that, if TS4.5 (or *when*) the game will lose its charm and novelty for staying relevant remastered addition with just improved walking space system, the fandom will get bored of it over the years, making the game a bigger dwindling flop, forcing the company to shut the development down (via updates or stop selling it even if not cancel), than all we have is Project Rene and their focus might switch over to future mobile market of the Sims. Just a thought…

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.
