Converting decor into a functional vehicle
Hey! I've been trying to convert BionicZombies 4t3 Tomarang Tuktuk decorative object conversion into a functional vehicle for a Southeast Asian custom world I've been working on but as I don't have any prior cc experience I've run into some issues. I've been using the Ambitions jamboree as a base and trying to replace the mesh with the tuktuk mesh using blender and TSRW but I can't get the windscreen glass to look correct, and when the tuktuk drives it loses its texture and turns shiny grey. If anyone could help that would be so appreciated!! I really wanna make this work

Try using a different base object - the EA motorbikes have geostates, which is why it's breaking while driving.

You may have better luck using a scooter, or a car to have the glass mesh group set up already, and swap the script to a motorbike in S3PE later if you need to

Thank you so much!! I'll give that a go over the weekend

I learned a lot when I made some cars and motorcycles, so if you really want to make this, BE PATIENT!!! Does the driver have to sit as driving a motorcycle? What you clone from also affects how fast it goes. The big thing about motorcycle geostate is the kickstand placement. But, I also recall that motorcycles lean on turns.

Shiny, happy people make me puke!

Yeah I've realised this is quite ambitious to take on as my first ever attempt at doing any form of cc creation ahah! Following the advice from CardinalSims I have been able to resolve the grey mesh issue but I've been intimidated to attempt to animate the wheels which I definitely want to do (and possibly also the handlebars) so will need to figure that out. I've also been reading a few tutorials about how to do glass so I'm going to have a go at getting that working this weekend! I cloned the World Adventures Kenspa so that the sim would be sitting motorbike style but the positioning with the jamboree matched up with the tuktuk mesh a lot better so I'm not sure how to resolve that.. I'm definitely enjoying the process of learning though!

What I found, is there are 3 basic shaders used... phong (body), full bright (lights) and glass for objects. I believe that most of the tutorials for "making" glass, is to simulate it for clothes.

It might be possible to use the "UsedCar1" (it has all 3 basic shaders), and adjust the rig position to only use one front wheel. Then also adjust the rig so the driver and steering rig bones are centered in the vehicle. I never did a trike, but have adjusted rig position for both cars and motorcycles in TSRW "Slots" tab.

Here I moved the driver's seat position...

TSRW also lets you "copy" a mesh group and change the shader, but I have not had success with the changing shader part.

Vehicles have bones, and things like wheels each have a couple of bones and offsets. I had to learn to paint those in Milkshape.
