Default How do you draw body hair?
Ok, I know, weird question but I've been thinking of trying to make something completely original for the past few days and since body hair is something I've worked on before (I've converted a couple stuff), I think it's an "easier" option than, say, making a t-shirt. While there is a perfectly good tutorial by Cmar on how to make a body hair package, there's still the actual drawing of the hair that I'd need to do. But the thing is, how does one go about doing that? Do I need to have one of those drawing tablets artists use? Because the mouse is definitely not made for drawing. Or is there another way to do it?

I have drawn things with my mouse. It isn't easy, but it is doable. But if you are against working with the mouse, the good news is, you don't really need a tablet made for drawing these days. If you already have an iPad or iPhone, you can download Procreate. If you have an Android tablet or phone, you can download something like ibis Paint. Then you can buy a stylus for whichever device you're working with and draw on there. A non-Apple brand stylus will cost you way less than a full drawing tablet, that's for sure.

Otherwise, there are 5 things I'd recommend.

1. Find good custom hair stroke brushes for your preferred drawing software (some software might have good brushes natively). I'm sure there are plenty of brushes for whatever software you're using that are specifically for drawing body hair easily.
2. Experiment with stroke stabilization in your drawing software to help you keep your lines steady, especially if you end up going the mouse route.
3. Find references. Our brains have a weird, fragmented way of remembering things. That includes something as simple as body hair. So I recommend finding pictures of body hair that inspire you and use them as a reference while you draw your own.
4. Be patient with yourself and the process. Especially if you've never drawn before, attempting to draw (even something that looks visually simple) can be a weirdly humbling (and very frustrating) experience. Don't expect to hop into GIMP, Photoshop, Procreate, ibis, etc and be able to get it exactly how you like on your first try.
5. Look up tutorials on how others draw body hair to help you out.

Good luck!
