A word of caution. If you are downloading an .asi mod be wary if they refuse to share source code. I would go so far as to say do not download any injectable if they refuse to provide their source code.

If you care, I'd ask about AI usage before using as well. Not sure if this is the same person, but there are a quite a few .asi mods that are WIP that are just using AI to code it.

I saw this mod on tumblr, and I must admit that I was quite excited. I have always wanted lot imposters to be realistic and HD, but I must ask if this is possible without changing the source code. I also think that changing the source code is like... illegal (I think).

I think I was way too exicted, but then again, a modder is reworking TS3 to be 64bit! Maybe everything is possible... We will see.

Can already get higher resolution lot imposters. https://lazyduchess.tumblr.com/post...n-lot-imposters

A new was released just yesterday. Even though I no longer play the Sims 2, I will keep an eye on the project.

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

The subreddit is here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/sims2remastered/
And there's a roadmap:
https://www.reddit.com/r/sims2remas...x8y2k2/roadmap/

I'm a bit wary, but would be wonderful if a stable version could be achieved!

How do you all know that the creator of this mod is using AI? Is the AI part confirmed? Maybe they are using it only to detect stuff (bugs). I have so many questions... How will cc work with this mod?

I just hope that this mod doesn't blow my computer! I do have the radiance mod installed and this mod probbably won't be compatible with it... I will probably wait for some time; I won't download it immediately.

They mention it in the rules of the sub they created:

And there were (now deleted) arguments about it on the Sims 2 sub.

From experience with asking AI for help with BHAVs I've found that the most help it provides is usually giving you bad advice and thereby telling you what not to do so you can narrow down the right move lol. To be fair, it can explain stuff you didn't know the meaning of.

I'm not impressed. The fact they're using AI code proves to me that they're not experienced enough of a coder to write their own code. Red flags.

I’m curious to see what happens in the world of The Sims regarding AI and reverse engineering over the next few years.

AI may be do many things but when it comes to my Sims games I will stick with OLD SCHOOL way of doing things . Everything new is NOT always good. ( My Opinion )

This sounds about right, it gets a lot of the lua code for my cave story modding projects wrong
it also gets deltarune gml wrong
it's not something to rely on by any means because it WILL give you the WRONG answer. you can use it as a think tank at least

However, at the same time, I feel like there's a lot of ideas that would never happen otherwise because some people don't have the money or time to go to programming classes... but if you're going to use AI to code something, it's probably best to keep it for yourself. In my current situation, I'm not in a position to really fully understand how to code but I am trying to learn with what limited resources, brain power, and time that I have.

TBH I'd rather CAS body meshes/types/fitness system be re-worked rather than getting open world. I want total control over sims's bodies like 3 and 4 with less effort and time spent on outside programs.

I have asked them on Tumblr, since I want more clarification on their AI usage (QA only or not). Let's hope that they answer...

Every software company nowadays uses AI though, even experienced coders. It's the new standard. Some problems wouldn't be possible to solve without it since it would take too much time. Why do you think we haven't seen things like this mod until now? Reverse engineering old games is very hard.

I understand the concern about AI, I hate it in some ways. But acting as if only beginners use it is uninformed.

I have a feeling like the creator of this mod does not want to respond to my question, since they were online, but they haven't responded, and a couple of hours have passed. I guess that they are very emotional when it comes to AI or they just think that AI is a normal tool which is something that I kind of agree on (I guess).

I may be too cautious, but I feel iffy about the creator thus far. I am worried!

They refuse to share their source code on release. They are very quick to shutdown any pushback on their use of AI, "It is a tool like any other tool" - skirting around one of the biggest concerns about AI use: the effect on the climate. (They cemented this claim in their recent upload)

I understand that AI is very common in the coding scene these days. I just think the creator of this mod should be more upfront on their use of AI + their awareness of the potential impacts it has. They treat it as a silly thing to be against AI, when it does have legitimate implications on the planet. It sounds like they are being purposefully ignorant about the issue.

Obviously I do not know the guy. I can only go off of posts. But from what I've seen, they come off as very dismissive.

Only time will tell, though. I hope for the best!!! :D

I really don't know why the creator of the mod doesn't want to respond to my message. I am sure that they saw the message, since they were online when I sent it. I guess AI has a much bigger role than just QA, so they do not want to admit that.

I just don't get it; why are you ashamed of AI, but then you use it in your work? I have heard stories of what AI mods do to your computer and the game itself, so I think I won't be downloading this mod.

No, I'm not either! I'm interested to see if it will work though.

Give them a chance, I'm suspecting that about a million other simmers are messaging them asking questions, too!

Well you know, there are a whole lot of other things that affect the climate too- combustion engines, plastics, flying in an aeroplane, eating farmed food. AI is here, you can't expect a creator who was probably taught to use AI in college to be accountable for its global impact. I hope that they are aware of it though, and using AI as a tool and not a replacement for critical thinking.

I happen to have very close ties to the gaming industry, and over the years I've seen firsthand how different games are developed at various game studios. And I can tell you that AI has become incredibly common in game development these days, whether it's used to assist with coding, concept development, or other parts of the process.

And I'm not talking about the AI slop flooding Steam. I'm talking about proper, professionally developed games, including big-budget AA titles. It's just not something that's discussed or publicly acknowledged all that much.

Unfortunately, that's simply the reality of the industry today. So if someone doesn't want to play any new games that have used AI in any capacity, at any stage of development, they might have a pretty hard time finding one. Knowing this, I personally don't have a problem with people trying to improve an old game like The Sims 2 using AI.

Inzoi is one that immediately springs to mind- a lot of Simmers are playing that, too.

No JJustpetro, I have no desire to put that into my game. I tried it once in Sims 3 and i didn't like it. What a waste of my money.
