Default Custom hair not showing up
I have sims 2, university, and nightlife, and the new patch.

I never tried downloading custom hairstyles before, but today I tried to add some. I downloaded several from MTS2 and other places. They don't all specify nightlife-compatible, but at least some of them do. I placed the individual package files in C:\Documents and Settings\Family2\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\downloads (NOT in subfolders.) They are not showing up when I create a sim. The custom haircolor button is not clickable at all.

I followed the checklist at http://forums.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=52706 and it all looks good. I also downloaded and installed CEP.

I've installed custom objects before and those show up in my buy catalog, so it's just the custom hair that isn't working. Any suggestions?

Often custom hair needs a specific mesh which is also offered on the site from where you downloaded the hair. If this should be the case, you'll find a remark that you need the mesh for this hair. Just take a second look at the sites you visited and check out if there is a mesh for the hair.

And... The folder is called "downloads" or "Downloads"? It should begin with "D", not with "d".

Oh. My. God. :baloons:

I changed it to a capital D and now everything works. Thank you so much! I would never have thought of that!

Maxis should fix that.

@Suseye: You're welcome

@jaxad: As long as Windows pretends to difference between upper and lower case, that long users like Suseye (and like me in the beginning ;-) ) will run into these trap. But you are right: If Maxis would do a comparison on lower case string, the problem wouldn't even occur.
