I finally transitioned to the Roman era! Plantsims really do make generations quicker. I downloaded Midge/ Velco's mods too including fairy and mermaid mods to make supernaturalism more interesting. I don't have any mermaids yet (and maybe won't since the way to get them in game is to teach them the sea shanty, which requires them going on vacation with the oceanography mod), but I have my first fairy!

I'm letting them have pets/ greet strays so werewolves are possible. I assume I can't get vampires, witches/ warlocks during this challenge due to the lack of greeting allowed with non-challenge sims. I might be able to have aliens down the line but no telescopes during Roman era.

I have finally progressed to the „Darke Age“ stage (I played two rotations, and not a single baby in new generation has been born yet.
I have 1 monarh family, 6 lords, 12 vassals and 22 (24) serfs, still adjusting all.
I will have to bypass the rules. Again.
I play vanilla game (8 members in one household). The king and queen are elderly, they have a teenage daughter and one servant, the crown prince is married and has two baby girls. There is no room for more children. I have to move the prince, his wife, and daughters into a separate household to create space for more children.
After adjusting the serfs, each lord will have 2 vassals and 4 serfs.
I have only one Viking family because I introduced changes here. When an adult Viking passes by a serf, he kills half of the household members. If a child is in that half, he takes him along.
I will attach the pictures later.

(English is not my native language, so this was translated using AI.)

Rarely post in Challenge threads because I dont play them as challenges. But thought I could share.

I am kind of playing Test of Time, but Im incorporate different ideas into a gameplay rather than a challenge. I also have played TS2 and TS3 more like a "speed run" type of way where I basically age sims up and adjust relationships and storylines as I go through each household one by one.

Currently Im playing parts of Chicklets original rules and now reached Egypt stage. But I plan to branch out their idea and create a World through time, rather than just a couple of original families. Now Im playing South Africa, Egypt and Native America and try mimic historical events (Not all of them. lol) through each location.

My idea is doing about 12 "Kingdoms" which a couple of families from each location. Right now the time is set somewhere around Ptolemaic era around 300 BC, just after Alexander the Great died. My neantherdal stage was brief..

I probably wont include Hebrews moving to Rome scenario of Chicklet rules, because that event is set by the Bible. Instead I will have invidual families move across different Kingdoms where I see might fit. In Africa kingdom ive Three tribes: South Africa, Arabia and Persia. So they might start a war against Egypt in later generation. Africa used to have 4 families, but one I had imigrate to Egypt as they represent the border between south and north africa.

My overall idea is making a couple of sim generations simulate a couple of hundred years in human history. Of course not 100% accuracy (I like semi-realistic gameplay) but I read history on google/wikipedia as I go speedrun everything.

Dont have much pictures, but below is my neigbhorhood for Egypt Kingdom, . I got lazy and copy and past the lots. I hate building but dont want download lots either.

I'm so happy you're giving my rules a try.
I have plans for the world to be significantly expanded in the Dark Ages. Check out my page called Intro to the Dark Ages in the rules drop down menu. It gives a rundown of different kingdoms to add at that time.
No need to have or not have religious belief for my rule set. I tried to find things that are fun to play out,for challenging, or interesting. The plague that Egypt goes through are interesting in game.
I also have plans for emigration patterns. You can see this begin in the transition from Egypt Era to Rome era. I keep in mind how many of different populations of people moved or didn't during different time periods.
I hope you have fun with it.
I'm working on the rules slowly. The page I'm currently working on is for if Rome goes to war.

Well...

I went overboard with my save. I was creating the kingdoms and at generation 8 (which is rougly 200-300CE. roman ends around 400 ce so my idea was gen 10 to end roman stage). My total Household count is 270 and 1200 playables...

For those who are interested, ive adjusted the stages, with some ideas from crickets rules. these were mine, but im still editing them. It follow more of a "Kingdom style" ToT because I love reading about real history as I play. Its more of an Uberhood. My goal was 25 Generation

1-2 Gen:
¤ Ice Age Stage/Neathandal : 2 Gen (Founders)

3-4th Gen - roughly 500BC to 0 AD
¤ North Africa, Egypt and First America Kingdoms
I introduced two smaller kingdoms - Persia and Arabia which are sims I movoed from north africa when the main hood got too big.

5th-6th Gen - 0CE to 200-1
¤ Roman Stage

7-8th Gen - 300-400 AD
¤ Migration period
Nordic, Britania and France Kingdom was created. Some families migrated and come slaves to these Kingdoms. Britiania is the bigger subhood.

10-12th Gen - 500 to 700AD
Part 1 of Middle Ages. Silk Road estabilished.
¤ East Asia Kingdom.
¤ South Asia (I did not add this one, i was planned to create an Hindu inspired subhood which would go trade/marriages to African Kingdom. But instead East Asia divided to 3 kingdoms: China, Japan and Korea. China is the bigger one.

13-15th Gen - 800 1000 AD Part 2 of Middle Ages
Roman empire is fallen and the kingdoms will become self-suffient and have a feudal monarch and some of them would enter a dark age with Nordic Kingdom becomes the vikings.

16th-20th Gen - 1000-1500AD Part 3 of Middle Ages
¤ Follows the orginal Tot somewhat but end of the stage. Families will move to First America as Colonization started in late 15th centuary

21-22th Gen - 1600-1700 AD
¤ Renaissance Stage

23-24th Gen - 1800-1900 AD
¤ Victorian and Premodern Stage

25th Gen
¤ End of ToT and into 21th centuary

Im consider starting the save over because my save file is becoming too big to make backups. Its at 1.50 GB now and Im only 1/3rd of the way in

EDIT: Attached some SS of one of my african founders. The Khoisan. This is the family I look at generation from. The child in family tree is 8th gen, Adam who is Africas primary leader (well future leader). His parents died of a reason i forgot but I got a random roll where his grandfather got bit by a vampire but because of they dont have full hous buildings, the grandfather got roasted by the sun so his distant relatives taking care of him

I love it! Feel free to take whatever you want from my rules. It has an uberhood vibe with each subhood being a different kingdom. Check out my Summary of Eras at the bottom of this page:

Test of Time Rules

I am going to seek out Cricket's rules for fun ideas too. Can you tell me where it's posted?
