Here's another not-so-small Victorian-style house. It's very spacious with many extra rooms.

It took me some effort to make the basement and attic work (Maxis, I'm still waiting for a retractable staircase!). Getting into the attic requires your sim to go into a "closet" of sorts, so there isn't a staircase hanging about in an awkward place.
