Title Two Bonus Dante Gabriel Rossetti Prints, Lady on Red Recolours
August 9th, 2015 Framing Correction
Probably because of the increased resolution, I noticed today that there has always been an apparent break in the wooden frame. This release corrects the wooden frame textures.
August 5th, 2015 Colour Correction
This release corrects the in-game brightness and hue of the Beata Beatrix portrait.
August 3th, 2015 HiRes Upgrade
For a 10% increase in filesize, these two recolours have been substantially improved.
Description
In preparing a new release of Beata Beatrix (1870) in Glamour Life SimNoir poster format - as posted here - I noticed a problem with the small version of Beatrix that accompanied it in the screen shot. I realized that the image included in the first Lady on Red collection came from a cropped original. An uncropped version can be found in Pets Badger format here, but of course that doesn't help folks who do not have Pets.
Rather than clutter the already lengthy original post, I thought it best to start a new thread for this alternate copy. Note that the first Lady on Red version is somewhat more vivid - although cropped - because the original was in much higher resolution. So it is a matter of preference as to which one you like better. Actually both recolours may coexist in your game; one does not overwrite the other. This paintings cost §180 each and have an Environment value of 2.
This screen capture shows the earlier Lady on Red version of Beata Beatrix, followed by the uncropped one included in this archive, then the large format poster of an uncropped version.
As a second bonus, I have included an interesting painting that I discovered after I posted the first Lady on Red collection. "Risen at Dawn", also called "Gretchen Discovering the Jewels", illustrates a scene from Goethe's Faust. Here Gretchen (Margaret) finds the jewels the devil has left for her on behalf of the antihero, Faust.
These images are in the public domain. This version of Beata Beatrix came from Wikipedia and Gretchen is from The Rossetti Archive (a site that works best with Mozilla Firefox). Each image was reduced in size from the originals without dimensional distortion. I used SimPE to set reflectivity to zero so as to maximize clarity. You may include these recolours in any uploaded lots, whether for free or pay - but it would be nice if you included a credit in the description and sent me a PM. Apart from using them in lots, I would prefer that you not upload these recolours elsewhere, if only because such duplication can cause confusion.
Additional Credits:
SimPE 6.0, which makes it all possible
Corel WEB.PhotoPaint, for adjusting brightness and intensity
Microsoft Photo Editor, for adjusting contrast, brightness and size
Attribute Change 5.30 is very useful for adjusting a file's date and timestamp, used to put the recolours together in consecutive order, with the most recent recolour being the one furthest to the left. Thus these two paintings fit into the original collection, arranged in alphabetical order within the catalogue popup display from right to left.
