Many moons ago I came across a reproduction of a plan for a Victorian 'Gentleman's House' by the architect Robert Kerr. And obviously, whenever I see a floor plan I'm driven to re-create it for the Sims!

Now, I had to make some fairly major changes to it. Most of the basement had to go (in the original it covers the whole lot), mainly since I struggle to see the use of a coal or wine cellar for the Sims. I also cut out a whole floor of bedrooms, and moved the door to the left since otherwise I couldn't fit the library in. Robert Kerr certainly wouldn't approve; "The Entrance-door opens in the middle of the Front, and is not pushed away to one side in the ordinarily unstately manner." I've also got rid of some of the corridors

I also recently realised that the 'lift' in the plan is probably meant to be a service lift or dumb waiter, and I suppose you could remove it and put a spiral staircase in as a 'backstairs' in the void.

The house plays OK. The only annoyance is that their is no direct access from the third to the fourth floor. As I said, you could delete the lift and replace it with a spiral staircase.

Anyway, you might look at this house and think 'But my Sims don't need a Butler's Pantry! And why is the kitchen in the basement?'. Well, you'd be correct, and I'll upload a 'modernised' version that has a more practical layout, but I felt I should put up one more in keeping with Kerr's vision.

Anyway, you can read more about the plan here, along with a reproduction of the floor-plan in question:
