From The Book series Harry Potter; Marlene McKinnon was the second oldest of five children and the only girl of the prominent Mckinnon family, as a child she became good friends with James Potter and Sirius Black whose families were in the same social circle as hers at the time. In 1971 she was accepted into Hogwarts and sorted into Gryffindor alongside James and Sirius, it was there she also met her best friends Lily Evans and Remus Lupin. Like her family and friends, Marlene had a dislike for traditional wizarding prejudice and values and was fiercely protective of those around her who experienced such bigotry. She was known for her witty sense of humor and being overall adventurous and outgoing, loved to take chances, and enjoyed hanging out with her friends. Despite her casual and laid back nature she was a good student and gifted witch skilled in; Defense against the arts, Dueling, Charms as well as advanced abilities such as wandless and nonverbal magic and mastery in Divination and the study of ancient runes. Sometime in her final years at Hogwarts, she entered into a relationship with Dorcas Meadowes, after graduation the two joined the order of the phoenix to help fight the first war against Voldemort. Tragically in the summer of 1981, Marlene and her family were attacked and killed
