Transgender Stories

Hello!

As EA has added some gender and sexuality options in CAS, I have noticed some places they could have improved. This mod brings more life to the journey of a transgender sim and allows them to contemplate and question their gender, look to others for advice, and eventually come out. This also adds interactions for sims of all genders to participate in discussion regarding transgender topics.

The following features have been added to the game:
- Gender Reassignment Surgery is available for free for sims who are openly transgender. By clicking the sim and choosing "Get Gender Reassignment Surgery," the sim's physical frame, pregnancy traits, and toilet stance will all be adjusted. For example, a sim receiving Feminine-to-Masculine gender reassignment surgery will gain the Masculine Frame, Can Impregnate, Cannot Be Impregnated, and Can Use Toilet Standing traits. These sims will also receive two buffs: One 24 hour soreness buff that causes discomfort during surgery recovery, and one 7-day "Confidence" buff that comes from newfound comfort in their body. Just like in real life, sims can still experience body dysmorphia after their surgery as well.
- Transgender Emotional Support Odd Job is a rabbit-hole odd job that allows sims to support a transgender individual going through a crisis. The sim will gain 115 simoleons from completing this odd job.
- Increased skill gain for sims who are receiving certain buffs related to this mod (for example, a sim who is confident after surgery seeing a boost in fitness skill gain).

The following traits have been added to the game:
- Out as Transgender: These sims are openly transgender. Once coming out as transgender, more buffs and interactions will be available for these sims to further build upon their identity and relationships. You can also assign this trait to a sim if you'd like to skip the coming out experience.
- In the Closet as Transgender: These sims are transgender, however have not openly come out yet. Once choosing the "Come Out as Transgender" interaction, these sims will gain the "Out as Transgender" trait and gain more buffs and interactions to reflect that. These sims have a "Scared" moodlet from being afraid to come out. They also gain an "Inspired" moodlet when in the presence of openly transgender sims and see them as a role model. Simply select your sim and then select "Set as Transgender (in the closet)" to gain this trait.
- Cisgender: This trait is a stabilizer in the case that a sim wants to opt out of the transgender options. Simply select your sim and then select "Set as Cisgender" to gain this trait.
- Safe Space (Lot Trait): All sims on a Safe Space lot will receive boosted happiness due to being in a supportive area.

The following interactions have been added to the game:
- Come Out as Transgender for closeted Transgender sims to come out officially. Both parties will receive buffs depending on how the interaction goes (happy/happy or angry/sad).
- Discuss Transgender Rights and Ask Questions about Gender Expression for any sims to have a conversation on the topic. This increases friendship between the sims.
- Contemplate Gender for any sim to have deep thought about gender. Will gain a "Focused" moodlet.
- Criticize Gender Expression for a cisgender or closeted transgender sim to make transphobic remarks against an openly transgender sim. This comes with a chance to gain an embarrassed, sad, or angry moodlet. This will also lower friendship level and cause the conversation to be an "Unpleasant" one. Due to the touchy nature of this topic, this interaction will never happen autonomously.
- Express Unconditional Support for any sim to tell a transgender sim they're supportive. This increases friendship between the sims.
- Ponder about Body for any transgender sim to think about their body. This has a 50/50 chance of causing a Body Dysmorphia moodlet ("Stressed") or a "Confident" moodlet.
- Try Out New Walk Style for transgender sims to change their walk style. This makes it easier for MtF or FtM sims to adjust their walk style to match their preferred gender while also allowing the option to not change it.
- + More Interactions highlighting, embracing, and exploring gender in the world of The Sims.
