All Sims gain skills at the same rate, regardless of the traits that define their personalities—until now! With the Natural Talent Mod, your Sims' individual talents will shine through, adding a whole new dimension to gameplay.

What Does This Mod Do?
This mod assigns unique, randomized skill buffs (ranging from no boost, to 5%, 10%, or 15%) based on each Sim's Personality traits. Whether they're a Bookworm, Evil, or an Art Lover, their traits now have a real impact on how quickly they master related skills! The best part? The buffs are hidden—so you won't feel pressured to chase "optimal" combinations. Instead, you'll get to watch your Sims develop naturally, adding depth to their stories.

How Does It Work?
Each personality trait is tied to a preset list of relevant skills. When your Sim has a personality trait, they'll get a random boost to the skills associated with it. For example:
  • Active Sims might gain Fitness faster than their peers.
  • Bookworms might get a head start in Writing or Research & Debate.
  • Art Lovers could find Painting and Photography comes more naturally to them.
  • Even Evil Sims might discover they're exceptionally skilled in Mischief!
What's more, even if two Sims share the exact same personality traits, their skill boosts will be unique! One Active Sim might be naturally gifted at Rock Climbing but just okay at Skiing, while another Active Sim excels at Skiing and not as much at Rock Climbing. These differences reflect each Sim's individual natural talent, ensuring that no two Sims feel exactly the same.

The beauty of the system is that it makes your Sims feel more alive—like they have a true knack for certain activities. The difference won't be huge at lower skill levels, but as your Sims progress, you'll see the gaps widen between those with natural talent and those without.

But Wait, There's More!
Even if your Sim undergoes a trait change through Self-Discovery or other gameplay events, their original talents stay with them. That means the boosts they gained from past traits will stay, making their skill progression feel organic and unique over time.

Why You'll Love It:
  • Adds immersion and uniqueness to each Sim, enhancing storytelling.
  • Hidden buffs encourage natural gameplay—no need to worry about finding the "best" traits.
  • Makes traits feel more impactful in shaping your Sim's skills and talents.
  • Even Sims with identical traits will feel different thanks to randomized natural talents!
Additional Requirements
For the Natural Talent mod to work, you will need:The Natural Talent mod will work will any pack. Even if your Sim has a talent for a skill in a pack you don't own, they will not be able to gain that skill so there is nothing to worry about.

Next Steps and Future
This is my first mod and may require some tweaks or fix any bugs. If you encounter any, please let me know so I can correct them.

I would like to expand on this for other traits and trait types. For example, a small boost for each job rank your Sim achieves. Or for Occult life states. These may be introduced in this mod or take the form of an additional mod.

Other Information
This mod does not give any buffs to child skills. Children will gain their natural talent when they can begin learning Adult skills.

There is no known conflicts with other mods unless they override the Personality Traits and their associated Buffs.

The Vegetarian Trait requires your Sim to eat something first before this mod will provide associated Natural Talents. This is due to how the Sims game created the Vegetarian trait.

Version Updates
Updates to this mod are below. The most recent updates and changes are listed first:
  • 1.1.0: Updated the mod to work with Life & Death expansion. Now the new Personality Traits (Macabre, Skeptical, and Chased by Death) will be able to have natural talents. I also added a talent to Thanatology to a few other personality traits. Finally, found that the Bro trait did not provide a talent to Video Gaming as intended. Fixed this, so Bros will be able to properly be able to be talented in Video Gaming.
  • 1.0.1: Found a small number of personality traits had incorrect buff codes. Corrected this error. Affected traits: Child of the Islands, Family-Oriented, Hates Children, Maker, Snob, Vegetarian. If you already downloaded the mod, updating to this version will not affect any Natural Talent already assigned. Also corrected the file name from holaited_NaturalTalent to holaitsed_NaturalTalent. If you update the mod from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1, please remove the previous mod to prevent overlap. I don't think it will harm your game (or provide extra bonuses), but it would just be confusing when updating in the future.
  • 1.0.0: Initial upload. I hope you enjoy!
