I'm glad so many peeps can make a use of this. Have fun with it!
Plasticbox, thanks for making a test, I guess that means the light-transparency is coded in the objects somewhere and doesn't depend on the glass.

This is really a perfect back door. I know I will be using this design object in a lot of my Sims homes. Thank you for fixing another oversight of EA's.

Light in TS3 seems to work pretty much like TS2 + Radiance mod, for all I know. I'm not familiar with the details of it, but if it's even remotely close to TS2 that means the material or shape doesn't play any role whatsoever – instead, some portals reference a light source that gets activated when they're on an outside wall (they're basically a lamp). From looking at the in-game behaviour, I guess in TS3 the exact size and shape of portal lights might be defined similarly to the indoor sunshadows (they move and they're apparently scaleable; in TS2 this was not the case).

Stuff for TS2 · TS3 · TS4 | Please do not PM me with technical questions – we have Create forums for that.

I have been looking for something like this door for my terrasses and balcony for a very long time. Just what I needed.
