Please note: These careers have a known but apparently rare bug that causes Sims to receive the "missed a work day" message on some of their days off for a few users. I have been trying to get rid of it, but so far without success. If you experience this glitch, read this entire first post for a couple of suggestions which may help (no promises!) Otherwise, until I figure out the problem, all I can recommend is sending your Sims to work in the best possible mood to keep their job performance up, and/or using cheats to advance them a level when they meet all the other job requirements.

Heads up! It was brought to my attention that the new versions were overwriting the Athletics and Business careers! I've now figured out why and fixed them (apparently the tutorial I've been following is outdated or just plain wrong regarding Group ID's. ><) If you downloaded the updated versions over the weekend of 1/21 - 1/22/06, you will need to get these fixed versions and replace them, then switch your angel and demon Sims into them. I deeply apologize for the inconvenience.

Update 1/21/06: Okay, I have just uploaded completely new versions of both these careers in the hopes of squashing the annoying days-off glitch a number of users have now reported. (Edit: Nope, it's still there. ><) These are essentially the same as the original careers game-wise and have the same GUID's, but they are built on the EP1 Business and Athletics careers respectively, rather than the base game Politics package updated for EP readiness, as the original ones were.

These should be compatible with the base game, but I have no way of testing that. If you discover otherwise, please let me know at once!

(For what it's worth, for other beginning career builders, I have had nothing but trouble with modifying the Politics career and advise staying away from it as a base if at all possible...)

If you are updating from an older version: Make sure you remove the old career files when you install these, or you will have conflicts!

Other Changes: If you've had no trouble with the original careers, you may want to stick with them. However, as a thank-you to those who've experienced the bug for their patience and help, the new versions have one new Chance Card apiece. I also replaced the unused Chance Cards with a generic error message so they'll make a little more sense if they pop up when they're not supposed to.

Please keep the feedback coming and report any issues, and thanks to everybody who's been waiting and helping out!

Update 11/24/05: It appears that the days-off glitch a few people have reported is not unique to these careers, and there's a possibility that it may be a flaw built into the game itself. (See this thread for details.) It's still under investigation. In any case, we've had about a dozen reports of this happening out of perhaps six thousand downloads to date, so if you're one of the lucky few to encounter it...congratulations! XD But please let me know! Installing the two careers one at a time and into separate Downloads subfolders *may* help prevent or correct the problem, but no promises, as the ultimate cause remains unknown at this time.

Update 11/13/05: If you are experiencing the days-off work performance glitch, Ashen has discovered a possible fix. Find it here!

New downloaders: If you are using only one career or the other, you should (I think!) not have any problems. If you want to use both, until I can come up with a version of these careers that do not interact in this strange way, I recommend installing them one at a time (i.e., install the Angel career, make a Sim an angel, save and exit, then install the Demon one.) Some testers have also said that installing them to two separate folders under Downloads fixed or prevented the bug in their games, so you may wish to consider trying that as well.

Many thanks to SuperFly, Ashen, and all the other lovely people who have been helping sort out this problem!!

Update 11/5/05: Corrected a text error in level 9 descriptions. Both careers require five friends to reach Level 10, not four. (Thanks to Lakart for alerting me to this problem.) Also, changed the icon coloring slightly and fixed an error in the behavior constants.

Attention! If you have the old versions of these careers (Career_TS2EP1A_Angel_01.00.00_AmberDiceless.package and/or Career_TS2EP1A_Demon_01.00.00_AmberDiceless.package) in your Downloads folder, you must remove them before you install these new versions or they may cause conflicts!

I am still looking for help with getting the icon transparency right. Thanks!!

Notes:

These careers are designed to complement one another. Their specifications are nearly identical, except that demons get paid slightly more, have flashier transport, and work different (but equivalent) hours and days from their angelic counterparts.

The levels are loosely based on angelic and demonic hierarchies found at Wikipedia. Because celestial beings are technically genderless or capable of changing gender at will, only male forms of titles are used. Each career has three Chance Cards; readers of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's novel Good Omens may find them very familiar! :)

Please note that these are not designed with game balance in mind; they're meant to let your supernatural Sims live comfortably in the mortal world while they go about their celestial or infernal business. Pay per day is fairly high, but the hours are short and days worked are few--more a matter of checking in at Heaven's or Hell's local branch office a few times a week. :)

No uniforms are used; Sims will retain their everyday clothing when they go to "work." The careers do have custom icons, though I'm not altogether happy with them...

These are for entertainment purposes only. No offense is intended to anyone's religious beliefs. No flames or attempts at conversion, please. :) However, comments and suggestions are always welcome!
