Title

The Solar Beloved: Ten Nightlife Images of the Pacific Rim

Description

This is a collection of original photographs taken in support of the Inner Beloved project. Several of them can be found at the Inner Beloved site, although - not surprisingly - the aspect ratios are different. These pictures were all taken in or near the Pacific Rim National Park Long Beach Unit and the Wild Pacific Trail, Ucluelet.

Please note that none of these images has been modified in colour or contrast. Apart from the necessary adjustment to brightness that is required for conversions to Sims 2 format, they are exactly as the camera and I saw them - yes, even the rich greens of the photo, "Relating". All were taken with a DX Nikkor 18-70 mm f/3.5-4.5 lens on a Nikon D70 digital body. The quality of this combination is attested by these photographs, many of them taken directly into the sun.

The main archive, beloved_2dogs.zip contains seven solar images in the Nightlife "Two Dogs and an Olive" format, which covers four tiles in width. These pictures include my custom framing, available for free use at the Six Huge Pre-Raphaelite Prints thread. "Two Dogs and an Olive" costs §2900, and has an Environment value of 10.

The first photo, "Ascent #2", was captured at the western end of Long Beach, British Columbia. Out to sea, the sun appears to be moving across a mountain in the clouds. This mountain actually has no physical form in this reality.

This small monolith surrounded by soft sand that I call "Goddess Rock" can be found near the extreme south-east end of Florencia Bay, originally called "Wreck Bay" by the locals. This rock is the site of a spiritual transformation, and for me this sacred place is as holy as any cathedral. The photo was taken at the very moment that the sun had set.

In "Individuation" (originally posted here) the sun has risen in glory, quite clear of the obscuring barriers of islands, rocky shoreline, trees and clouds, just as the psyche may at last transcend its castle walls of egoic isolation, stagnation, pretense and illusion.

"Kissed" shows a prior scene, of the eastern sun shortly after rising from the embrace of the ocean, as seen from the Wild Pacific Trail. This photo is similar in location and subject to the three vertically formatted pictures included in the second archive.

"Long Beach West", taken very close to the location of "Ascent #2", displays a September's evening sun, viewed across the final segment of Long Beach. As in many other locations within the Pacific Rim National Park, this area is popular with surfers.

"Relating" (first posted here) displays the sun and the ocean in fertile and harmonious green interplay, a late afternoon setting in late September near Long Beach Lodge, northwest of the Pacific Rim National Park.

In "Veiled", the Last of the "Two Dogs" group, the sun is perceived through the trees of the Wild Pacific trail, just as the Beloved may delight in the glory of her Lover, as witnessed through her marriage veil.

The second archive, beloved_dinner.zip, contains a sequence of three photos - "Awakening" (from here) "Ascent" and "Awareness" - converted to the Nightlife "Sent to My Room Without Dinner" format. These pictures cost §900 each, and have an Environment value of 6.

SimPE 6.0, absolutely essential!
Microsoft Photo Editor, for adjusting brightness and size
Attribute Change 5.30 is very useful for adjusting a file's date and timestamp, used to put the recolours together in consecutive order, with the most recent recolour being the one furthest to the left.
