This is my first upload and only my second creation, so cut it a little slack. I needed some of my sims to be able to work in the healthcare industry, as I've been working on a fully realized recreation of my friends and family in a custom TS2 neighborhood. I wrote this, with a little help from my girlfriend who knows the industry. The descriptions were all written by me after given a brief summary and list of job titles by her. I wanted this to be a lucrative career as well as a realistic one, so this might not be the most interesting of custom careers, but if you need a touch of realism added to your game, then here you go. The icon was created by me with a quick edit of the Caduceus I found and a Sims font to create the Simolean sign.
The career reward is the cosmetic surgery machine you get from the Entertainment career. It seems fitting that you could get some free plastic surgery from some connections when you start reaching the higher levels of your career. I know people who work for dermatology doctors that have gotten free procedures before, so the concept wasn't without precedent.
Edit: Credit goes to Bidou's Career Editor tool for SimPE and GIMP, probably the single greatest freeware image editor. AND, my girlfriend who filled me in on the healthcare industry, as well as who came up with the job titles.

Welcome to the Healthcare Industry! Your job is to sit behind a desk all day, checking patients in and out of their medical sessions. You'll be forced to listen to the impatient patients complain about their bill and wait time. This is essentially the medical field's version of being a fast food cashier. You might want to work on your filing skills to impress some of the higher ups if you ever want to escape the incessant wailing that inhabits the dreaded Lobby.
2. Medical Records Associate: $335 9AM to 5PM - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs
Charisma - 1; Logic - 1
Code:
You have finally escaped the Lobby and it's only taken a month for the nightmares to go away. Now you dream of endless paperwork. While this is still a menial job, it certainly feels like a promotion. You no longer have to deal with patients directly and constantly. It is your job to maintain the records of those patients, however, and it is incredibly important that nothing is accidentally misfiled or lost. Keep track of all the important information that the doctor you work for is too busy to be bothered with, and you might just be leaving that filing cabinet behind you.
3. Residency Program Coordinator: $654 9AM to 5PM - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs
Mechanical - 1; Charism - 2; Logic - 2; Friends - 1
Code:
No more filing for you! You're moving up the industry ladder. Nowadays, you're running the residency program at your medical facility. It's your job to assign positions to the new residents coming into the facility as well as "debrief" them on how the facility runs. You should continue to work hard and pay attention to the things around you, learn how this play operates, and suck up to the Program Director during your coordination meetings with her. In order to move up, you'll want to become the oil that greases the cogs of this ever-running machine.
4. Office Associate: $875 9AM to 5PM - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs, Fri
Logic - 3; Friends - 2
Code:
No longer do you have to deal with new Residents or their paperwork. As Office Associate it's your job to handle the financial tasks set to you by the Executive Administrator. In addition to handling money, you'll be the personal assistant to the Department Chairman, which means you'll be at his beck and whim quite often. Keep the ship running and keep your department's office supplies stocked and you'll be moving on up in no time.
5. Medical Staff Office Personnel: $1250 9AM to 5PM - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs
Mechanical - 2; Logic - 4
Code:
Alright, your new job is incredibly important, as if you haven't heard that before. Your "one job" is to handle and maintain the credentials and licenses of the facility's physicians. It's not a very demanding job, but it carries with it a lot of clout.
6. Billing and Coding Specialist: $1675 9AM to 5PM - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs, Sun
Charisma - 3; Logic - 6; Cleaning - 1
Code:
You'll now be working as a liason for the facility with the insurance companies. It's important for you to be sure that the patient's bills and finances are kept in order. You need to know your medical terminology, as you'll need to know what certain procedures are and how much they cost. It can be a little tiresome struggling with the insurance companies' lack of desire to pay for their patients' procedures, but practice your assertiveness and you'll have this job under your thumb.
7. Administrative Associate: $2100 9AM to 5PM - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs
Charisma - 4; Logic - 7; Friends - 3
Code:
Okay, now you're really among the big timers. You are the assistant to the clinical practice manager. This means you have administrative duties, yourself, now. Keep the facility's supplies well stocked and always be there to resolve and issues amongst the clinical staff and you'll definitely impress those higher ups.
8. Certified Medical Coder: $2689 9AM to 5PM - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs, Sun
Mechanical - 3; Charisma - 6; Friends - 4
Code:
You've gotten your certification and you can now call yourself a Medical Coder. You are responsible for coding phycisian's clinical notes to submit to the insurance companies for payment and reimbursement. Sound boring? That's because it is. Keep up the hard work and maybe you won't have to stay at this position for too long.
9. Clinical Practice Manager: $3500 9AM to 2PM - Mon, Tue, Wed
Mechanical - 4; Charisma - 7; Logic - 8
Code:
Are you ready for this? You're now in charge of the nurses and staff within the clinic in your facility. Obviously, this is a large responsibility and it will be up to you to keep the machine running smoothely. You can't rest now, you're almost to the top.
10. Executive Administrator: $4500 6AM to 6PM - Mon, Tue, Wed
Mechanical - 5; Charisma - 9; Logic - 10; Cleaning - 2; Friends - 5
Code:
Congratulations. You are now in charge of all the financial aspects of your department in the medical center. This includes maintaining the budget, overseeing the entire clinic, office personnel hiring, and general maintenance. You have a lot on your plate, so you'll be spending longer hours at work. Fortunately, you have a lot of people under you that you can delegate tasks to. Be sure to check in over the phone on your off days and you can learn to take it easy on this job.
Hope you enjoy!
